South Tyneside Magic Festival

Postby pcwells » Jan 29th, '07, 11:33

Anyone here going to the South Tyneside Magic Festival?

It's taking place in sunny South Shields from March 16th to 18th.

Confirmed guests/performers include:

Max Maven
Daniel Garcia
Pete Firman
John Lenahan
Ray Alan
Alex Lodge
Pat Monahan
Peter Loughran
Romany
Marc Oberon

There are also masterclasses by Max Maven and Shoot Ogawa (with very limited places, though!)

More details can be found here.

I'll be there. Possibly sitting at the bar all on my own having nobody to talk to and only the cheapest of whiskies cos I'd spent all my money at the dealers' stalls. But that's okay. I know you'd all rather go to trendy places like Blackpool than culture capitals like South Shields. I'm not bothered if nobody wants to talk to me. I quite like my own company. I'm the funniest Pete I know. And the rest of you are just missing out. So there. Nyah.

It sounds like an excellent line-up. I've seen Max Maven and John Lenahan lecture before and it would be worth the entrance fee just for those two guys. Hope you and anyone else who's going enjoy themselves - a Review/Report afterwards would be much appreciated!

found any more info on the masterclasses?
I saw John Lenahan compere the comedy store once years ago. He was excellent, funny and I got to see the floating cigarette routine for the first time. His answer to the "how did you do that?" heckle..... "very well thank you very much"!

not a fan of sigs, so I won't bother adding o..... oh

The only info I have on the masterclasses is that places are limited - 18 for Max Maven's and 20 for Shoot Ogawa. They're not cheap either - I signed up for the Max maven one (cos how often am I going to get this opportunity), and it cost me *ahem* fair words in money *ahem*.

Maven and others are performing during the festival though, and that doesn't carry any additional fees as far as I know.

I don't have any other information on lectures that are taking place throughout the weekend, but I get the impression that there are some and that they're included in the registration fee.

Pete

The South Tyneside convention is one of the best the country has to offer (IMO) - if it wasnt so close to Blackpool (date wise that is) I would be there.
