Does anyone have any suggestion/ideas/expience......on refitting a TT? I purposely bought the largest plasitic TT I could find knowing full well that it wouldn't fit my actual T..........my thought being that with hot water, a candle, or something of the like, I could soften/melt it so that it would stay on, but allow me to stuff massive amounts of salt, silks, etc.....for various restaurant ideas I use........I do this stuff alredy, but got to thinking that with a larger volume TT I could do even more inpressive vanishes.......anyone have any thoughts on reshaping a TT I would love to hear them!?

PS....also got me to thinking, what is the largest most impressive thing you have vanished with a TT? I do vanishing lit ciggy all the time, but am interested in the new big TT, and doing the same with a lit cigar stub!

I am a big TT fan! I think they are great. I like the lit cigarette, salt and sugar into a napkin... or more so into spec's clothing. Cut and restored rope also fun. I just ordered Darwin's Encyclopedia of TT Magic (been meaning to do it for a while and just not gotten around to it).

Try buying a "standard size" vernet and cut it so the closed end of the T is gone but the open part remains. then put the remaing part of the standard size TT inside the bigger TT. pack it out around the edges with some kind of putty cement, maybe some silicone so it's "smooth" on the inside. in this way, the "closed" end of the TT can handle the big loads, while the opening is more or less like the normal size vernet TT.

I have heard of people successfully changing the size with heat, however usually only to make bigger not smaller.

You can make the TT marginally smaller by heat.

The largest item I ever vanished with a King TT was a necklace with a locket. Although the colour did 'shine through'.

This thread is making me really sad... I just don't use my TT. I know so many neat effects using it (I'm a Sankey fan for goodness' sake!) and have practiced them too, but there's always been so much other magic to distract me and to polish for performance that I've never made the leap... I still have your absolute classic newbie TT fear

Edit: Actually - not entirely true. I do do a money in envelope selection type thing, but the TT is so hidden all the way through that, and the effect so removed from vanishing or switching anything that it doesn't seem to count. Would some of you guys like to file share a video of even a few simple bits of TT work, to try and remove my fear?! I've seen Sankey do it a million times and read so much in books, but I've only once or twice seen stuff *actually done* with it... it doesn't help that one of those was by Paul Daniels!

My brother used cotton wool inside his TT to make it fit him better, but that's not exactly making it smaller as such.
Slightly unrellated to the thread but I'll tell you anyway - I used a bit of PVC glue to make the nail more realistic. Seems to work, but not really necessary.

the TT i bought came with a little slip explaining how to adjust the size of a TT. Apparently if you place the TT on your thumb then place it in hot water, the plastic will become slightly softer. This is how i sorted my TT out, so it worked for me.

All the TT’s I own are too small, they just fall off, I have ordered another 4 larger and hope these will fit better.
So your saying I should push on the new TT then put my hand in boiling water ??

not boiling water lol. well what i done was place my thumb, with the TT into hot tap water. If it wasnt becoming softer, just add kettle water, in small quantities. that will help it reach it temperature.

My suggestion.....don't get rid of them! Firstly, you can stretch them somewhat with warm water like stated on other posts, enough so that they "just fit"....secondly, even if you can get them to fit (albeit snuggly) but have no room for a load, you can still make them into various utility props.

Various thumb tie effects can be done utilizing a TT, you can poke a pin hole in the tip and put a pencil lead in to create a N@# W#$%@r.....can also stick a thumb tack through from the insde........allowing you to scratch and mark cards.......glue string/elastic cord to the tip, and use it to make a pull......that way you can fill it and not need to put your thumb into it.......don't limit your TT use to simply vanish/appearing items!

Hopefully I have convinced you to keep your extra TT's....PM if you need examples of any of the ideas I suggested above.....if you still want to get rid of them, I would happily take them off your hands....simply PM if they are still available!
