Hi all,
nice to be here. I came across this forum via google when I was looking for reviews on some tricks. I found the reviews and the discussions very helpful (saved me some money), so now I'd like to contribute a bit more actively.
The magic bug bit me late, but it bit me bad. I'm near 35 and have been into magic since summer '06. Right now, I'm doing this as a hobby to entertain my friends, family and colleagues, and the occasional unsuspecting stranger in a pub. I've started to regularly visit a local magician's club in my home town. I still have guest status and it will take time and hard work to be accepted as a member; anyhow, once they know you're serious about magic and don't just have that "tell-me-the-trick" attitude, I find magicians to be very helpful and welcoming. Magic get-togethers are great fun and really speed up your learning curve IMO. I rarely manage to fool magicians though, I agree it is easier with laypeople...

Close-up magic with everyday objects such as rubberbands is my favorite, as well as some mentalism/mental magic. I'm now working my way deeper into coins, cards, and ring tricks.
I'm looking forward to great discussions with you folks. Hope to learn a lot from you, and if I happen to know something you have questions about, I'll be glad to help.
Yby
