Just go for it Sam, my TT really looks out of place on me but trust me it doens't even notice. All my fingers are very thin and a big fat TT looks stupid to me but I couldn't believe how people didn't see it, but they didn't. And some were getting very close. I think it's like anything in magic, act natural and like there's nothing suspisous and you'll get away with it.

sir chicken...it sounds like you have spatulate fingers (thats not a medical term, just a finger description)...

all i will say to you is...just bung one on when you're round a mate's house or in a pub, and see how many people dont look at your thumb...its just cos you're too concious of it...

I have to agree that the TT is probably my favorite gimmick. Vernet TT's are great for most effects especially when your working in clubs and bars that aren't particularly well lit.

Lady of Mystery, I often ready your posts about card magic... what motivated you to bring your TT with you this time? I try and take mine with me everywhere, just in case.

Magic1Jim, best recomendation is practice as much as you can in a mirror. If you decide you like it, I can highly recommend this DVD:

I've been doing cards for quite a while now and have recently decided to try out a few new things. Along with sponges and ropes, the TT is something new that I've been playing around with.

Was sitting at dinner on Friday with my TT on to see if my boyfriend would notice it. He didn't. So I did a salt vanish and production, he was gobsmacked by it. So I decided to bite to bullet and take it out with me that night.

This looks rather nifty, if more expensive than a Vernet:

As long as you don't feel self-concious and behave naturally, people rarely see a t-t.
A teeny bit of misdirection I sometimes use, it to bring attention to the fact my sleeves are rolled up, or roll them up before them. Most people suspect sleeving where magic's concerned and any vanish performed with no sleeves seems to impress more.

Hmmm you lot nearly have me converted here, I've never really been drawn to TT before. But I may buy myself a cheap one later and see how things go with it.

How far away would you generally need to stand from a spec to use TT?

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.

As close as you like, within the bounds of decency! If you keep their attention elsewhere, they won't notice it even as close as a few inches.

As Mandrake says, stand as far away... as the quality of your misdirection will allow.

I did a silk vanish for a friend last night and she was gob smacked. She made me do it for 2 other people and because my hands were sweating a bit the TT made a large pop sound as I pulled it off for the load. So I just started making popping sounds with my mouth!.

Still nobody noticed what I had done. My wife who was with me did say afterwards that for once she had seen the TT but that I had been standing under a particularly harsh neon light. The thing is that she knows its there and normally doesn't see it.

The TT has to be the simplest and at the same time most effective piece of magic you can get, and so cheap as well!

point blank tt action...6 inches away from a mobile phone vga camera...

EDIT: cheapo two quid job TT...the best convincer i've found is to flash both hands towards someone face on, with thumbs points towards them (like you pretending to do some 1920s hypnotism-cliche stance)...then just roll up your sleeves as you talk....

you can get very very close and people don't notice. I kept my distance at first and was aware of angles but as I got more and more confidant with it the close I got and less I worried about angles.

You can get away with it so easily, people are thinking sleights, up the sleve and even tucked into the watch. A TT is the last thing they think of.

As I said, I managed to fool at point-blank range over Xmas with nothing more than a mince pie casing as an impromptu TT.

Cool I think I'm sold, I'm gonna order one today and see how things go with it. I see your points about being close up as I'm used to the M5 system and I've noticed that the first place people go for is the sleeves. But they never start grabbing where your TT would be.

So if TT are that good could I use one to pull a sick note out of thin air and get out of work? Or am I being a wee bit optimistic?

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.
