MARK LEWIS THERAPY THREAD

Postby mark lewis » Feb 25th, '07, 17:58

I think this forum needs a place where tired minds and stressed out nerves can come and relax. It is especially for people who hate Mark Lewis. I shall let them come here and discuss me and get if off their chests. I shall take no part in the conversation. I only want to help the people who are under so much stress.

The best therapy is to talk things out with like minded and sympathetic people who are in the same boat as themselves.

They should not go to other threads to complain. It will only stress them out far too much and they will not be able to handle my witty repartee very well.

Come here you tired and huddled masses who seek relief from Mark Lewis. All the Tomos and Freddies of the world -here is your haven. It is for you to make use of this special place.

Peace be with you children. And I emphasise the word "children"

Enjoy yourselves in this special Mark Lewis free place I have created for you.

Mark Lewis is not GOD... he is Mark Lewis, I think??? actually now i give it more thought I hv never seen Mark Lewis and Richard Kauffman in the same place at the same time... are they in fact... the "one person"?

imagine that.

anyway, I prefer a good old debate about hypnosis to any "personal" slanging match. let's not make it personal.

Mark, I realise you dont like Derren Brown's presntation skills, are you prepared to discuss his effects and abilities? yes i know entertainment is more important, i am more interested to know from Mark or anyone who can add something, when DB apparently tricks someone into believing he is invisible or whatever... once the effect is complete, DB often places his hand over the spec's forehead, eyes etc... speaks softly... (giving the impression of providing a "soft landing" back to reality) appart from the presentation of the whole thing, what is he doing?

In the case of the invisibility example, I would say that he was genuinely using hypnotic and suggestive techniques there. It can certainly be done in real life so I see no reason why it shouldn't have been anything other on the show. It's known as a negative hallucination.

I would say that the contact he makes is part of breaking the suggestion - the guy feels Derren's hand go over his eyes so it therefore follows that he is actually there. Then he ensures that with the verbal confirmation that he is there and that he can now see him. Of course it is quite theatrical, more so than just telling him to close his eyes and that when he opens them again he'll be able to see him :).

Thanks for ruining my last thread.

You show a certain lack of respect for other members of the forum.

Your into palm reading eh? - I've posted a palm especially for you to read here:

You did say that you would be leaving the thread, but I'm sure curiosity will tempt you. How weak.

We obviously need to remind ALL members about the forum policy of NOT making personal attacks or being insulting. We are here to talk about magic, not to get nasty with each other. If you can't agree with that then that's your choice but you'll need to find somewhere else to be nasty, not here on TM.
