Due to the very disappointing way this thread turned into personal attacks and criticism, all posts from this point on have been moved out of sight. A lot of useful comments have therefore been lost but that's the price paid for going down this route - apologies to all those who actually contributed useful stuff but I trust you can see that we have little choice in the matter.

As mentioned on another locked thread with similar issues, we obviously need to remind ALL members about the forum policy of NOT making personal attacks or being insulting. We are here to talk about magic, not to get nasty with each other. If you can't agree with that then that's your choice but you'll need to find somewhere else to be nasty, not here on TM.

In my capacity as a psychic reverend I could see that was going to happen.

For the moment may I recommend to those who wish to delve into the therapy side of things rather than the theatrical side a little book by Edward Hutchinson on the subject. I forget the title but I remember it was very complicated. The title rather than the book that is. The content of the book itself is very easy to read and explains things very simply. It doesn't exactly say so but I get a vibe that the author is a state theorist which should make various people here feel a bit better.

Hutchinson also has little bursts of dry humour in the book which I find appealing. Humour in hypnosis books is somewhat of a rarity.

There are a few pages in the book devoted to stage or group hypnosis but the bulk of the text is really for therapists and I recommend it.
