Just a fun little challenge -- CP coin roll

Postby I.D » Feb 28th, '07, 16:58

Hi all

I was just playing around with some coins while working ( or not working ) and I tried this and its quite fun.

Try holding a coin in classic palm and doing a coin roll. I was doing it in the hope that it would help my classic palm.. it may do yet but I thought Id extend it to you all as a challenge.

Knowing you lot.. it might pass away a few hours that could have been spent doing something so much more constructive!!

My classic palm coin roll is REALLY slow as you can probably imagine.. much slower than my 22 coin rolls a minute I can normally do.

Let me know how you get on !!

me neither...i can get to my second finger with a large coin, and then drop it and get angry...

though, i do have my own method of controlling a spun coin and predicting which side it lands up...9 times out of ten...i've used it to win many a bet...

Hmm, that is hard. I normally have an excellent coin roll, now I feel like I'm a beginner again! I keep dropping it after 3 fingers. I sense more obsessive practice looming.

I can do it without dropping.. but very slowly at the mo

A little tip.. the only way I can get it back from my pinky to first finger is take it with the thumb then kind of throw it back up and catch it on my first finger otherwise the classic palmed coin will fall.

Oh.. and I just noticed.. i need to be careful as Im sitting at work doing that toungue sticking out the side of your mouth action as Im concentrating so hard!! Gotta watch that

I usually do my coin roll the "backwards" way, where I start at my pinky and move towards my thumb. For some reason that is much easier for me. But it's much harder with a palmed coin!

It's a good subtlety for showing your hands empty too. If you really want a challenge try holding four coins in cp then producing them one at a time via a coin roll, it's a little task I set myself a while ago to improve both my cp and roll.

Needless to say I gave up as quickly as I started because it didn't look perfect immediately but I was surprised that I at least managed it.

I was thinking that actually.

If you could do a smooth coin roll with a coin classic palmed, albeit with the fingers stretched out a little.. no one on their right mind would think you are holding out.. The 4 coins classic palmed is a good idea.. i tried it with two.. did half a roll and though F* that!!

I've managed a few rolls with the coin palmed. The problem comes, as mentioned, when returning the coin to the first finger. This action causes the thumb to move slightly away from the palm thus loosening the grip. I have been a lot more successful by bringing the third finger in and holding the coin in the palm when the thumb is flipping the coin onto the first finger, which actually looks and feels quite natural.

ah classic palm! One day I got up and decided: Hm im going to keep a coin palmed all day.

Brushing teeth, showering (yes, washing hair), writing, typing, driving, whatever! It does alot for the natural hand, at the end of the day when I finally let the coin go it felt like it WASNT natural. Im gonna give this palming coin roll business a shot! great idea!

best,

kirk

I just tried a coin roll without the coin in classic palm. I managed to do one, in around 35 seconds.

I tried it with the palmed coin.....30 seconds!!!

Either way, i suck at coin rolling.

Hmm...that's a pretty good idea, never thought of doing something like that, but now that i think about it, it makes sense..maybe I'll try it out sometime.

As for the challenge, I still have trouble just rolling a coin by itself, let alone with another one palmed. Once i work on both my palming and rolling, I'll definately try this out, as it sounds like it could lead to some really impressive tricks.
