i really disliked the colour monte. thought it was proper poo. this is like a con man style colour monte. really cool. i think i'll be adding this to my trick list.

This is a Jay Sankey effect called 'This and That' if I'm not mistaken? My friend used to do a similar version, but nowhere near as well.

exactly the same movements as colour monte.......patter sounds alot better though!!! colour monte is a total legend ov a trick. the reactions are beauty......

its the same {similar} patter as the color monte. nothing different except the cards.
I used to use that patter until i come up with something better.
so i dont see what the big deal is.

Spent this week practising this routine with joker/queen of hearts and a handwritten £14 card.

This was also a nice variation, The ending was a little rushed however.

A sad development with this one - I remember viewing the video and saw that he had put up a link to his website, from which the effect could be learned. I sighed to myself, checked it out, but was pleasantly surprised when I saw that all he did was give you a link as to where you could buy the official version from. Which was nice.

Now I see that he has ammended his comments announcing that you can now buy it from "acertainsite.com" - a quick trip over there and yes, for $8.95 you can buy the tutorial video he has made. It just annoys me because I highly doubt that he has received permission to do this. And the bizzare thing is it's a few dollars more than the official version, which comes with cards as well!

Sigh...

You can see why! with so many people viewing it on Utube. With half of those proclaiming it to be " da bestest trick ever! your sleight skills are wicked" it's not hard not to hear the cash registers ringing

The over exposure of this routine and the one it is taken from might end up with the inability to ever perform it to a audince without someone saying the words we all love to hear "Ooh I've seen this one before". Sad really as I think this is a nice quick effect

I remember seeing that trick on the Paul Daniels Show
about twenty years ago.

I know a pretty funny version of this trick. I once saw a female magician perform it.

It was as follows: (You need to know how the trick is done, which I will not tell you)

1. Have spectator draw a card
2. Place a Joker on the table, making the spectator think its his card. (Plenty ways to do this)
3. Use A Joker for "this - card", ace of Spades for "that - card" and the chosen card as the "other - card"
4. Tell the "I met a guy" story.
5. Say he first wanted you to find the Ace (But everywhere jokers)
6. Then he made it easier and wanted you to find one of the jokers. (But everywhere Aces)
7. Last he showed you The Ace and one Joker and asked you where the other joker is...
