I'd love to know which films you've loved recently. Doesn't matter how old they are. Seems dafdt to give the plot line, since it can be found in IMDB.
I'll start off with ...
Talledega Nights
Excellent comedy for those who liked Anchor Man, etc. Like 40 Year Old Virgin (also excellent) the extra bits are a feast.
Everything is Illuminated
Sentimental comedy with some quality lines. It's slightly quirky indy cinema, but got Ellija Wood in it who plays an excellent character.
A Mighty Wind
The folk version (ish) of Spinal Tap. I can't decide if I like it more.

I saw the new one recently. I quite enjoyed it. Very very close to the original.

Are you kidding?
The new Omen movie lost every single subtlety of the original... the music score, the suspense, the 'reliance on what is in your mind' factor, and the acting!
The new movie should have never been made.

I really enjoyed "Good Night and Good Luck" late last year.
I watched "24-hour Party People" last night. I enjoyed it, but then again, I was there.

I'm a huge movies fan (and have a quite big DVD collection).
Some of my favourites:
- Big Blue (Extra Long version, European Ending) since freediving is my hobby I loved this movie even though it's not quite my style
- One flew Over the cuckoo's Nest
- A Clockwork Orange
- The Crow
- Godfather 1&2
- LotR Trilogy
- Shawshank Redemption
- Hero (extra long HK version)
- Usual Suspects
- Shining (the original)
There are so many !
From the most recent ones I loved : Das Leben der anderen and El Laberinto del Fauno
And since Seige mentioned Tennebrae from my favourite Horror director, I prefer : Phenomena and Suspiria.

I'm after recent viewings, not necessarily favourites.
I also liked
Y tu mamá también recently.

Now, don't get me wrong. I much prefer the orginal(s), but the new one is a good film in its own right and the point I was trying to make was that the scenes and dialogue were very close to the original. Shot angles, etc.

Just a reminder, I'm asking for recently seen films, not faves of all time. The latter can just go mad as a thread.

I own 2 different versions on VHS and 2 on DVD

I have visited the island of Amorgos (where the greek part of the movie takes place) and it's really great.
I forgot to add
Cidade de Deus (City of God) and Babel (pretty good but not as good as
Amorres Perros) which I've seen recently.
