I thought it'd be interesting to see what other than magic, TM members did in their spare time.

For me, I love windsurfing, swimming, running, playing the fiddle and didgeridoo. And of course there's shopping.

So come on, don't be shy. What else do you all do?

Wait a minute... I love cooking too... this is some weird "Identity"-type situation where we all find out we're linked in some way...

Or not. I am partial to a good ale or red wine, play guitar when I can and also do a bit of climbing and white water kayaking. So there.

guitar it is for me as well....

I must confess that magic has taken a back seat to music for the past few months.... I find it very difficult to practise magic with my guitars within easy reach.

Actually I don't want to hijack your thread, Lady of Mystery, but I hope you don't mind if I add the following subtlety to your question: Do your other hobbies, if any, interfere with your magic in terms of time... and how do you prioritize and dedicate your free time to everything you want?

Personally, the truth is that I'm a drastically better musician than I am magician (been a musician since the age of 10, a magician for only a couple of years)... so when presented with 2 hours of free time I can either practise a magic effect and accomplish nothing (because it will take those 2 hours in conjunction with the next 2 weeks of continuous practise to get it right) or completely learn a new song or actually just PLAY the guitar and feel fulfilled after the 2 hours because I feel as though I produced something.

Just wondering how others felt...

Hijack away :D

My windsurfing probabaly takes up more of my time at weekends then anything else. I try to go for a run at least twice a week and go to the pool at least twice a week. Magic practice usually gets fitted into first thing in the morning in the half hour or so between Dave leaving for work and me leaving and an hour or so when I get home.

i do it at my desk at work, occasionally on the lav (yes i do wash my hands), usually when i get in watching the news, then i put by about an hour or so for it at bedtime...

yes, im talking about magic practice...

though i try and mix it up a little...one week its dvds, another its card work, then another for books, then another for development of ideas...

not had much chance recently as i've been gigging..which is obviously the best practice going...

EDIT: i do have a tinker on the 360 every night too just to let off steam and de-stress...and then the weekends its just a bit of a free for all...and i was thinking of starting tai-chi classes soon too, a mate of mine teaches the martial side of it all...

even though i used to teach guitar, i have some terrible habits myself...i bend the first 4 strings away from myself, the last/top two towards me...

cant read music, play everything by ear, probably why i stopped teaching... i knew one guy who used to proclaim that he could teach someone how to play like clapton...who wants that?

like magic, have your heroes, but get over that idolising phase quick-smart...

I'm mainly into rugby, football, swimming, weight lifting and general fitness during the week. Then at the weekend I'll let my hair down by going out with all my mates, drinking to much and running about like an eejit.

I also like to all the other usual stuff like TV, films, read etc

I usually do magic at night during the week or on sundays when I just taking it easy.

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.
