The Trick That Needs A Name

Postby magic_evmeister » Feb 28th, '07, 16:33

Hi all,

It's been a while since I've been around on the forum as I've just not had the time (unfortunately). However, I have not given up on my magic. In fact I came up with a routine the other day which is absolutely frying people. Therefore I figured I'd drag my ass onto here and post it for you all to see. As always the fixed camera angle and ominous recording light have detracted from the performance in both execution and patter compared to my real world performances but hopefully it will give a good impression of the routine and all who watch will enjoy it, and for those that can figure it out, use it in your own performances.

Finally, I exhausted my imagination coming up with the trick and haven't got a name yet. Any suggestions?

I have actually seen a very similar trick, but instead of appearing in another deck its in the same one. But the back changes color and the card is also signed.
I did think about it, but I am not a fan of the ------. but nice use of it, did it well.

I gave it a name, but I think if your not going to sell it a name isnt really needed. Its not like your going to tell it to the specs.

Plus i am guessing you didnt put all you could into the patter for the video (i dont blame ya). If that is the patter though it could use some work.

But a name, how about chamelon (spelling off)- that lizard that can change the colors.

I think the SS in the trick is not needed. I think it isn't justified (and YES something like that needs justification. The original version of this trick which Brad Christian shows on the SS explaination video justifies it very well. )

There are other methods you could use to do the same. I suggest you justify that a little better or find another way. I will blow a good percentage of laymen away as it is... just could be better.

Good work!

Thanks guys. Glad it was enjoyed. I agree that the patter was a little lax, but as I half stated in my first post, I find it alot easier to perform for real speccies than a camera. It so much better when your getting reactions to what you're saying/doing (whether it's interest, confusion, enjoyment or disgust - it's all good!!! lol).

This trick is however, only a few days old and I will be trying different things with it as I perform it and see what works best.

Very nice trick, and well performed, however there were a few things which might have aroused suspicion to a spectator.

Still very nice p&p.

Just awesome :D

Also for the name maybe 'Indecisive Card', because it can't make up its mind about its back colour.

I think a good name for this trick would be: Color Scheming (play off of color scheme).

*Quick Note* like others said, the patter isn't as good as it could be and the explaination of why magicians have specs sign cards isn't really necessary and makes the trick feel long.

Very nice routine.

I like it :)

Name? Well, "Teleport" ?

I only say that coz it was like the card teleported from one deck to another :)

Nice routine tho!
