Postby russellmagic » Mar 4th, '07, 20:15

i am trying to put together a comedy cabaret act but finding it a little hard as the magic i do is close up. i have a few ideas but any help with effects i could think about would be great. i have been looking through banacheks dvd, john archer, bill malone etc and trying to put a comedy feel to the effects i have taken from them. thanks. andy

depends on time audience budget and venue but a few things spring to mind.

victory cubes assistant production can be made from ardboard on the cheap end to mirror panels on the expensive end.

several change bag routines.
bag to cape / silk / shirt / elephant, i do a nice one wich involes poo.
sliding die box with variose endings.
dowling ball pickture.
fish bowl production / vanish with or without comedy fish routine.
jumbo find the lady.

hope this get your ideas going.

I'm working on putting together a similar routine at the moment. I've not got too far with it yet but I'm going to open on some slient sponge ball work done to some funky jazz music, introduce myself and then possibly move onto some rope work.

If you get a chance, see Mark Worgan's lecture and/or notes. He specialises in comedy cabaret. A very enjoyable lecture that gave me a good few ideas on presentation and material.

not a fan of sigs, so I won't bother adding o..... oh
