Paul Daniels - Chop Cup Routine

Postby Carl Buck » Mar 7th, '07, 14:41

Hi, would anyone on here either have a downloadable file, or a link, to Paul Daniels performing his chop cup routine?

I've been informed that this is THE routine to see when practicing with chop cups, but I've been searching the internet for footage for a while now without success! :(

Also, and this is completely off topic and will probably make me look stupid, but I'll ask anyway, what are the letter/number combinations that a few of you are putting after your location?

Thanks

Carl

Paul Daniels routine is brilliant and it's hilarious i see it last week on a tv documentry on magic. This documentry has been repeated several times so im sure it will be on again. If you go to magicweek.co.uk and click on tv magic it will tell you whats on over the next week or so all you have to do is look out for it.

There's a sticky about what the signs are for so go and read them for more info but the numbers are your age and your magic status e.g 24/wp, which means you are 24years old and a working pro or 32/ah, which is 32 years old and an amatuer hobbyist. Go to the sticky to understand more

Found it it's on 16/3/07 on a friday at 2am so probally best to record it. It's on uktv documentry and it's called magic part three close-up magic. You only see about 30 seconds to a minute of Pauls chop cup routine but well worth a look as is the rest of the programme. Hope this helps also it's on at 3am same date and and on uktv documentry plus 1.

If you didn’t get the chance to see the documentry, you can see the footage of the routine at this link

That was hilarious! I'm definitely modelling my chop cup routine after that. I hope I can give it justice, though.

I did as well. I’ll never understand why his shows were never re-run..Prehaps we should start a petition

We've asked the Beeb on several occasions about this and their reply is always the same, they'll 'pass it on to the appropriate department for consideration'.

One very appropriate time was to coincide with the Magic Circle Centenary in 2005 and we asked them in October 2004 about it. We heard nothing back, no shows were broadcast and it's clear the Beeb simply aren't going to show them again. Apparently Paul has asked about DVD releases but the figures quoted per show for the DVD rights were astronomical and well into 5 figures. Since the shows were paid for out of licence payers' money, it's a bit much that they won't at least do a re-run. OK, perhaps there may be admin problems with repeat fees and tracking all the guests who appeared but not an impossible task if they wanted to do it. Which they clearly don't!

There is a general “More Magic on TV” petition doing the rounds it can be viewed and signed here http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/moremagicontv sadly, despite running for a year now, its only attracted 50 signitures
