They say...
The Effect
The magician has two cards in his pocket. The pocket is shown otherwise empty.
A spectator is invited to `physically` select either card without looking at the cards face. Then the spectator mentally selects and names any card.
The magician explains that this is an experiment in physical and mental abilities.
He states that he knew they would pick this card. The chosen card is turned face up to reveal a prediction: -
`THIS IS THE CARD YOU WILL PICK - PHYSICALLY`.
The magician explains that they could have chosen to `physically` remove either card.
The magician points out that if the spectator had chosen to remove the other card, well, that would have just been insane, because that was the card they selected `mentally`!
The spectator removes the only card in the magicians pocket.
It is their mental selection!
Q&A
Can the spectator think of ANY card?
Yes! Any card can be thought of. It will always be their card!
Will I have to do complex sleight of hand?
NO! No palming. No forcing. Duel Cyclone is easy to do.
Will I have to carry around gimmicked or stacked decks?
NOPE! No rough and smooth. No Indexes. Use Duel Cyclone with your own standard decks of bicycle playing cards. just add the 'special something' provided, that makes this killer effect possible.
Do I have to hide loads of extra cards in my pockets?
No! That's just one of the reasons this effect is perfect for real world use. Only two cards are in the pocket at the beginning and only one card in the pocket at the end!
If it really is that clean, It can't be possible for the spectators to handle the cards...can it?
yes it really is that clean! The spectator removes both cards!
Is it suitable for real world working magicians?
YES! It resets instantly and can be performed anywhere!
I say...
Well, what can I add to their outline given above?
It really is as they say above. For once, a trick that does live up to what they say about it and all for just under 12 quid!
Any card freely thought of by a spectator is the card that they have seen sitting in your pocket the whole time. Yes, you read that correctly, THEY merely think of any card, THEY pick the only card out of your pocket and THEY are totally unforced into their choice of card! Oh, and THEY may try to burn you as a witch.
I will say, however, that it is not completely self working. While relatively easy to do, it requires you to be completely comfortable with what you are doing regarding combining the effect with the patter and actions. The sleights are minimal, although there is one you can add in the alternative handling which make it a bit more difficult but far more amazing to the spectator as it appears as a complete "hands off" affair.
The workings are very bold but as such slip by totally unnoticed! It's a cheeky one, this.
Put it this way, I read it. Then I re-read it to make sure. I didn't think it would work, no way. Then after practising it a fair bit I did actually try it out in the real world. The responses were pure wonder. It's one of those.
You won't believe it will work until you try it, but as I said will want to be comfortable with what you are doing enough to let this number flow very smoothly
You can be ready to go with this and just flow straight into it at any time during your routine, or better still as the "show us one more" number. So, yes, definately suitable for working magicians. No reset to speak of so can be ready to go again straight away. It can even be used as an out.
Shuffled pack, not a problem, the deck being totally ungimmicked nor stacked.
I've seen a few people say of this, "why didn't I think of that", and to be honest I am inclined to agree. It is simple yet still packs one heck of a punch.
Overall
I would have to give this a good solid 9/10 on value and the ability do do this with no setup. Great reactions too.
Yes, it is simple.
Yes, it is £11.99
Yes, it is only one trick, but.....
Yes, it is a flippin' good 'un!
Not everyones cup of tea, but I love it and am more often than not ready to go with it at any time.
