coin unique or cig through quid

Postby juggling_guy » Jan 24th, '04, 23:26

ok so lets toss for it, which is the better trick coin unique or cig through pound coin. i think they both look ace but there just a bit steep to buy in one go so which one should be highest on the shoping list because im for once eager to spend my hard earned cash but am spoilt for choice.

It kind of depends what you want to do obviously but I vote for coin unique as it is a great little coin trick.
It has many routines available, in their hand, in a glass, in a matchbox vanishes where as the cig through is a in your hand (with very bad angles) one trick pony.

You can use the coin U in many different ways but once you have shoved a cig through a coin they have seen it and in my honest opinion it looks obvious what you are doing, just my thoughts though, don't let me put you off :)

I'd also go for Coin unique and I've noticed that it often features in the list of best self working tricks but I've not noticed this for cig through coin. Also Cig through coin has been heavily featured on TV.
So if it was me, I'd def go for CU.

i'd go for coin unique but also consider scotch and soda or gin and orange also euro scotch and soda too, unless they have to be english coins.

you could also conside eddie gibsons nest of coins.

without a doubt it has to be coin unique, its a great little gimmick and is pretty much examinable(to an extent), cig through coin is a little too angle conscious for my liking and is far too easy for a spec to work out the workings

one more vote for coin unique,

has this helped your decision? I know the advice is a bit ambiguous but I'm sure you'll find it of some use!

Definitely coin unique for my money. Several routines possible and probably the trick that got me back into magic. Not gone for the cig through coin myself, but it would seem fairly obvious to the specs (in my view) that you're dealing with a coin that isn't "normal". Having said that i've had some stunning reactions from the "bitten coin" so maybe not.

i use scotch and soda for my coin tricks, yes you get an american coin and a mexican centavo but to be honest if your going to do a coin trick then i like to use unusual coins, purely because they are not everyday coins and therefore could have magical properties, take hopping halfs american half and english old penny.

the coins give you the story line by there very nature and theres no chance of spending them :!:

Absolutely Coin Unique - many effects are possible and the whole dingus is very examinable afterwards. (Drawback here is that you might spend it by mistake!). Cig Thru Coin is just that and not a lot else - unless you use a rolled up fiver. As the trend these days is against smoking, cigarette tricks are not very popular but coin tricks will always be in vogue. And if we join the dreaded Euro Eddie Gibson will be snowed under with orders!

Well Juggling guy, I reckon we couldn't have made your choice much easier as rarely have I seen such agreement by so many people on which of two tricks is better. Let us know how you get on :)

Good decision! It usually comes with several routines and I rather like the one where 2 coins are on the table, covered by a glass and, just by swirling the glass in circles, one coin disappears. It fools me every time!

Whatever you do, make sure you don't mix CU with other cash and spend it by mistake. I check my change twice a week in case I find one!

Since spending it is a major problem with this gimmick, I'd suggest buying the Euro version as your much less likely to spend it, this also lends itself to gags about the euro not being as reliable as the pound, disappears even faster than our currency etc.

if your going for this type then also consider regular scotch and soda and gin and orange.

please note there is a big difference between scotch and soda variants and coin unique variants that could effect which one you want to purchase.
