i was wondering if anyone had some good or funny stories about performances (without revealing any trick secrets).

For example, i was performing for some friends, and the trick involved some sleight of hand and i made a mistake almost ruining the trick, but after about 5 minutes of trying to hide the object different places while my friends and family kept guessing, i made the trick more amazing than if i had done it right!

A couple of Saturdays ago I was mind reading with a group of girls in a pub and I revealed that one of them was thinking of the jack of clubs. It bothered her, so when we finished, she took my deck, shuffled it, and asked "what's the top card?" I said "look at it". She did and freaked. It was, by true a 52:1 chance, the jack of bloody clubs! I was actually going to do something completely different, but hey, as John Huston once said, "when you have a choice between truth and legend, print the legend"

Wow what a amazing coincidence..

..I was in a pub on Saturday night too - spooky.

Joking apart it's great to play on serendipity, I'm starting to enjoy effects where you jam or jazz it a little.

Not unlike Tomo's story, I've had someone pick the same card out of a normal deck of cards three times in a row, with no intentional force.

I guess it's likely that there was a slight crimp in it or something similar that made it stick out slightly more in the fans, and was a natural choice.

It was still brilliant. After the third time, I continued to riffle, classes and criss-cross force, making use of the fortunate circumstance. He was incredibly impressed.

Also, back in my early magic days, I was performing a 'do-as-I-do' type of effect, and it just so happened that the card they cut to from their deck was the one missing card from my deck... And so couldn't find the card - because it wasn't there. Once again - an effect made accidentally so much better!

Heh, I know I have a bunch of stories, just can't think of many off the top of my head...must be because I'm sleepy.

Anyways, One of my friends at school loves the throwing up cards trick, and he requested it of me one day, so I secretly prepared, then build up tention by coughing more and more as time went on. He kept bugging me to do the trick, but I told him to wait as I digested some of the cards (I enjoy building tension way too much  ). After about five minutes of hamming it up, I performed the trick...just as he turned around and missed the entire thing. Only one of my friends saw, so I figured it couldn't hurt to perform the trick again. So after about ten minutes of waiting (and coughing, and my friend still bugging me), I made absolutely sure he was paying attention (and my buddy who saw earlier wasn't) to perform the trick...and he missed it AGAIN by turning around just as i brought my hand up to my mouth. By this time my throat was killing me, so I just told him "tough luck."

Best story I have is I was on holyday in Devon and the "all round entertainer" Was going do magic on the Friday night, anyway before the Friday we was talking and I asked him what he was going do, and he said bent £5 in an envelope. I said well when i do that I use a TT and produce the £5 from some ones pocket or something.

Anyway he wouldnt listern and palmed the £5 then droped it on the deck for all to see. plus he had to relite the the envelope. Christ on a bike deck he should have done it my way!

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

I had a pretty accidental miracle occure at work a fe months back.

I was joking around with this guy that sits opposite me, I ended up throwing a 10p piece at him and he closed hsi eyes and flinched.. where did it end up?? In his bloody shirt pocket.. not only that but there happened to be a 10p right behind him on the floor. He tossed this back to me, I told him to watch.. did a simple retention vanish.. and revealed the 10p to be in his shirt pocket. He was really freaked out as I never went anywhere near him..

I think it might have been the same day but a different person. A manager, her name was Helen.. she is scared of me now.. I did a few basic mind reading effects.. she was impressed but she wanted so desperately to catch me out.. she said she was thinking of a number between 1 and 1000 and could I tell what she was thinking. I meant for the following to be slightly sarcastic. I put my fingers to her temple.. looked deep into her eyes and after a few seconds blurted out the most random number I could think of. 492!! she screamed and had to sit down. She was telling people she could hear my voice in her head doing some kind of mathematics  I think I was more shoked than she was!!

Not a bad day that

HAHAHAHA. Not into mental reading quite yet but maybe what we think is very random actually isn't.

I once got lucky during a book test. Someone in a book shop took a book of the shelf and opened it at any page and said they thought of a word. Following the rule that it's better to try and get it wrong than avoid and make excuses, I prepared for a guess.

Luckily I'd flicked through the book and vaguely knew the plot. "It's a long word -" I guessed, and was correct. I asked them to imagine themselves writing the the word on a large blackboard and this gave me a massive hint at the first letter. Using the three bits of info (basic plot, long word, first letter) I took a guess at 'Convention' and hit the jackpot.
