Nyman said it wasn't his, and that's why he couldn't put the method on the DVD.

He can't put the *method* on there. Because the *method* isn't his.

That would be telling... or at least, it would be—if I knew.

I believe that the Sophie Trick is Andy's personalised version of a classic effect. The *performance* is Andy's own, but the method is not.

I didnt like the trick much. The plot is quite old tohugh i thought i may be wrong.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

This effect is one of my ethical grey-areas. In the absence of a reference from Mr Nyman I constructed my own method for this effect, and a modified presentation. In doing that I may have reinvented the method which Nyman himself uses. That's something I'd like to check since, if I have, I feel that I should buy the original book/whatever in which it appears to be entitled to use it.

I wouldn't try to claim that my method is especially clever, but I think the effect is terrific and Nyman's presentation is genius.

What you call heroism is just an expression of this fact; there is never a scarcity of idiots

I'm not sure you need to. I worked out a method to take a deck, shuffle, spread, riffle shuffle and (optionally) cut and it be perfectly ready for OOTW.

I'm sure someone else has done the same, but I'm sticking to the fact that I came up with it independantly and will not be seeking publications to make sure :)
