Sorry to hijack the thread!! - what about a three card monte (colour monte style) with '2' gangsters, a girl and 'you're dead'
Easy to make baffling for the punter!!

I used to perform 'Here Spot' from Karl Fulves Self Working Rope Magic book with a story line about a smuggler who was caught by customs and hanged, only to escape. Perhaps something along those lines could work with a Gangster story line.

>> Nyman's 'Diceman'

>> Nyman's 'Killer Elite' - easily adapted

>> Fifty-Fifty (the seige version, could be adapted to a 'gambling with your life' theme?)

>> Legend of Lucky Jackie from seige's own 'Black[deck]Magic' booklet

All got a nice gangster style, and are a little more unusual than the regular stuff, with dark undertones!

Daniel Garcias 'Fraud' would be an excellent effect to use since gangsters get involved in counterfeit money..........err apparently

Jay Sankeys 'Homocide' would also seem fitting.

Some good suggestions there, thanks guys.

I think the gambler effects are what Im gonna stick with.. maybe some effects with a story around 'heists'

I would love to do Fraud.. but I dont dont have the neccessary things for the prep... or more appropriately.. wouldnt know how to.. well would.. but I dont have what i need..

It is any kind of Ganster we can go as.. Im going as scarface or Al capone.. they were the only Gangsters I would ever be scared of..

I've just put a trick in the routines section, you might be able to do something with that. :?:

Doug and Dinsdale Piranha.

How about a card routine where you 'shoot' the pack, after they've chosen (entirely freely, of course *cough*) and replaced a card? The card they selected (well, kind of) drops out of the pack, full of holes.

Thanks for all the suggesstions.. however..

First thing we did yesterday was play tug o war for charity.. I got rope burn.. most of what I had planned went out the window with the shards of flaming rope!!

So I did.. holy moly, fifty fifty.. a bill switch one I gotfrom Sankey then doug mckenzies juan hundred dollar bill switch.. £5 into a £20.. memory loss from 22 blows to the head ( re-worked it in a torture theme.. if he didnt recall ALL the shapes he got shot in the head.. with a rubber gun  ).. then I did polo through the neck.. and my first performed sponge ball routine ever.. went down a treat!

I just couldnt handle cards.. my fingers were burning most of the day ( I forgot to let go of the rope  )
