12 months...

going through some old receipts last week (a hobby of mine), i realised i'd been into magic a little longer than i thought, its now nearly six years...still not a great deal of time...but more than anything, goes to show how bad my memory is...

anyway, what i wanted to say was really, well...thank you to the creator and the mods here at TalkMagic...yes, you may now be sick...

but it dawned on me this morning, i'd been a member here for just about a year now, and i've learned alot by joining this place...

i've had some cracking arguments with people, i've waffled on about nothing in particular, i've tried to help where i can, and offered ideas in return to those kind enough to offer me help and feedback...

so, as well as the mods and TM itself, i'd like to say "thanks very much" to those that have offered advice, hints, tips, reviews and so on...

the rest of you can go to hell though *joke*....

nah, all i'd say to those that have recently joined, is just remember that the more you learn, the less you realise you know...get out there and perform as much as you can in a way that fits in with your character and what you wanna bring to magic...

think about the "hows and whys" of it all, are you a shaman? a psychic? an old fashioned card-shark with magic overtones? and apply that to everything about your magic...

and that's pretty much it, hopefully that wasnt too cheesey, or overly pointless...but a whole year here...here hare here (sorry random withnail and i reference)...

basically, use this place as the resource it is, have a good sniff around, buy books, apply your creativity to everything you like and even those things that you dont...get stuck in...

As I got half way through reading that Jerusalem faded up in my brain to a cresendo at the end.
I feel quite emotional now

I couldn't agree more

Good post Abraxus!

Thanks to this site, my productivity at work has gone through the floor but I've made some friends (and had a couple of ding dongs too) and found everyone to be really helpful and friendly.

A big, pink and fluffy hug to everyone!

As you have started a 'warm and fuzzy' thread about this place. Could I take this opportunity to thank everyone for welcoming me (and all the other newbies) onto the site.

Your general guidance and advice saves us lots of time, money and energy when learning magic.

Which I have to say is becoming quite overwhelming, especially after buying Jean Hugards - Card Manipulations.

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.

...the other thing i wanted to prod people to do on here, is, if you have access to the routines/R&D areas - dont be afraid to post up your effects and ideas...it seems to be dying down a little?

it's honestly the best way to find out if:
you're wasting your time
improvements
general feedback
re-inventing the wheel

but let's not have anyone go on about not having access yet...

anyway - seriously, use it as much as you can, it can get you somewhere...
