And I read your PM. I just joined this site a couple days ago so I don't need to be breaking any rules... yet.

If a mod or a senior member tells me without a shadow of a doubt that I can tell you, I'll let you know.

I'm no senior member, and am definitely not a mod, but I think you could at least point him in t he right direction. It's not exposure to tell a person who seems to have genuine (even if basic) knowledge (and interest) of magic where they can buy a book/dvd that teaches something.

To AJ:

Once you master enough card sleights and feel like you're ready, Derren Brown's dvd "The Devil's Picturebook" and book "Pure Effect" describe the impromptu handling of the haunted deck. I heard Daniel Garcia's project dvds have a version too.

Currently Reading "House of Mystery" (Abbott, Teller), Tarbell, Everything I can on busking

Fair enough. However, I'd find it foolish to point someone in the direction of rare books and DVDs that are going to cost a small fortune for such a simple sleight (if you can call it a sleight).

Furthermore, he was asking me to explain the method to him, which seems to be a no-no. As far as giving him a push in the right direction goes, I often take a "grumpy old man" stance and think that we all should do a little homework before getting an answer spoonfed to us. The first result of a simple Google search for "impromptu haunted deck" yields a weath of information.

AJ, I'm going to be frank (actually, I'm Rob. My uncle was Frank)--you're awfully pushy. You're expecting an answer from me like it's my sworn, solemn duty to serve you. Being a new member, I've got a responsibility to lay low for a while and soak things up. I've already tread through some hot waters with some earlier help I gave you and I don't want to push things and set anyone off around here... yet

There are a few ways to do an impromptu haunted deck: one involving salt or a similar substance and one using bent cards. I'll leave it at that.

I could not agree more. It's your "get out of jail free" card.

The same for the less is more comments. present your tricks well and thoroughly, do not rush and leave them wanting more.

As for exposing the impromptu haunted deck, I do not think that everyone knows how this is done as mentioned in a previous post. Any methods as far as I am aware are deemed as exposure. It is a great effect done properly and everything is completely examinable immediately.
No hidden trap doors, magnets, IT, invisible gnomes or fairies. All that remains in their minds eye is real magic.

not a fan of sigs, so I won't bother adding o..... oh

No, since i already know how it works im pretty sure its not a sin to ask for the impromtu version without spending $30. Anyways you say im pushy...all i ask for you to be polite and answer yes or no or at least let me know you read it and didnt leave me hanging.

You may know the gimmicked version, but obviously not the impromptu version. And I'm pretty sure that asking someone to PM you the secrets of an effect is against the rules.

I read them, but your missing the whole point of pming someone. You dont just go on the forum and discuss the whole conversation and answer on there. When you get a message its polite for you to answer back by messaging them. Not by discussing everything back on the forum or i would have just asked there. See since you made a big deal out of it when i politely asked. I have to make a big deal of it to get my point across.
