iv had this trick for a while now and am geting quite good at it. The problem is opening the can after restoring it. In the book it says to use a pen or paper but i dont think that it looks realistic enough and in the past have simply faced it away from the audience because they are normaly fully ocupied with the can to worry about the lid. This has worked fine up to now but eventually im gunna get caught out so dose anyone have any tips as to how to make this part of the trick look better.

I've never had any problems with this as I think it looks realistic enough, but you can also use a lighter, I've never tried it though. I'm sure that's mentioned with the trick. What type of paper are you using?

i use just regular black paper but i think the real problem is that i dont have the slight of hand to take the paper off and get rid of it so sometimes i use a black felt pen and just wipe it off and open the can in the same move.

usign a lighter is the best method in my opinion... it gives a "matt" black finish rather than the shiny black you get when using a pen

I tend to use tissues and a permenant marker (my lighter was conviscated after torched and restored accident) which tends to work fine. Must try using a candle at some point.

lurker a spot on method and in no way did you give part of the trick away

that said it is realy good advice and theres been a lot of talk about this trick most people on this forum will have figuerd it out beforhand.

just remember that lay people and despoilers also lurk in the darkness looking for clues, use the pm system if you have a realy good idea thats what its there for, not a gripe just a friendly heads up, this part of the forum is like a public erm well pub, you would'nt shout out in a pub how to do a three card monte to your mate across the room
