Help with a 'magicians' routine?!

Postby Scott Daly » Mar 21st, '07, 15:32

I'm currently working on a quick trick to show to other magicians. Its basically a TT routine and is structured to be quite obvious to magicians untill at the end I tip the TT into their hands and it is solid! (chop cup stylee!). I was also working on the ending being two solid TT but the transfers became a bit clunky. Although I came up with the idea independantly I find it very hard to believe that it hasn't been done a million times before. does anyone know if there is anything in print on this I could get my hands on?

I'm also working on a fiber optics routine with three different coloured lengths of rope!! (which should be pretty wicked when it's finished!) Has anyone attempted anything like this before??

Cheers!!

I've looked at the fibre optics with different coloured ropes and to be honest, I thought that this gave the effect away to the lay person and it just wasn't worth investing any more time into this.

The problem lies in the long and short ropes and ow these work together throughout the routine and this makes it impossible to sell these as two differently coloured ropes. If you know the routine then just think it through with these two ropes by themselves and you should figure out why between the two rope - one rope phase, and the rope stretch part of the routine.

It's nice to hear of people are thinking about their magic though!

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

I know exactly what you mean, but these problems are what I'm trying to overcome.
My version involves a gimmick, but if I manage to realise my vision, a short red rope and a long blue rope will change into a medium red rope and a medium blue rope!! Bet thats got you thinking!! (by the way, in the above example only two ropes would be used!)
I'm keeping this one quite close to my chest at the minute but I have quite high hopes! This could all change next week though when I have a meeting with someone who could make or break this idea! I'll keep you posted! As for thinking about my magic, I never stop, my obsession is so great, I woke up in bed couple of mornings ago with three coins thumb palmed talking to myself about David Roth's mini table routine  ...................maybe I should start to worry!!

Most things can be achieved with a gimmick but I loathe gimmicked rope magic and was loooking at exactly the same issue as you are but without using a gimmick.

Good luck anyway
