Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

I totally agree. There are more ways to skin a cat. But eventually, we all find our own method which suits best and we stick with.

i would actually put seventh heaven in the "classic" range personally...pure genius...i've not laughed so much through a book due to sheer joy and inginuity...love it...

i've adapted patter and story lines from some effects from 7th heaven to suit my character, and i've ended up with a whole 20-30 minute set of card/mind/intuition style effects to add to my own regular stuff...

that houdini's hand for example, i've just adapted that to a collective conciousness idea and subconcious thought projection...marvellous...well done jonesy...

What's more, it's actually not that easy to get hold of, so it's a kind of 'underground' pleasure.

A bit like Devil's Picturebook used to be

Its quite funny that I find palms quite easy compared to DL, although I do have big hands. I suppose its a case of horses for courses really. My problem with palming can be the noise I sometimes get.

I've been thinking lately of completely changing my single lifts to match more like my DL. At least until I'm ready get the slide DL perfected. Would this be advisable?

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.

Yeah thought so, I had been trying for a while to get my DL the same as my single. Then I thought to myself what am I playing at here? Just changing my single lift would be a hell of a lot easier.

just to say, it feels good to just natter about magic, rather than arguing doesnt it!

its about bleedin' time...here's one for you, help my brain out here...one of my favourite passes looks like a hermann for cover, but returns the card to the bottom...i want to say cheun hok pass, but is that what its called? bad memory...BAD...

anway, thats an over-looked pass in my opinion...

especially if you cop the now bottom card as you move the deck forward with the right hand and hold it the left, you can catch a great peek at the now copped bottom card easy, as the thumb causes it to buckle, but its covered by the actual deck itself...thats my tip of the hour...but badly explained!

Hasn't been a truer word said for a while. Its been very refreshing to talk different techniques and sleights without resorting to arguments.

As for the pass I have to say that I'm starting to develop other methods for the pass like using the hindu shuffle as a pass. I got some methods from Jean Hugards card manipulations. I'd rather leave the true pass for a lot further down the line to be honest. Using the hindu shuffle seems like a very fair way to a spec as I use it fairly regularly anyway.

First of I should state that my pass is lousy but have not practised it that much as I find that there has been upto now very little uses for one within the stuff I have learnt so far.
A Double under cut followed by a false cut or shuffle does just as well for the spectator I find. Obviously I'm not saying it doesn't have its uses but it isn't the holy grail of card magic some would have us to believe.
A DL has far more applications and a great DL doesn't seem to get the same qudos a pass seems to get.

I don't know if it's considered less respectable but I always perform a triple or quad on an off beat when the specs are looking at something else or when I'm talking to them. Then I just have to turn the cards back over once...

I tend to paractice the count more than the lift itself.
