As some of you know, in addition to being a new magician, I’m also an anthropology student. I’m currently wrapping up my fourth year and I’m taking a course called “Research Methods in Social/Cultural Anthropology.” In this course, we were told to chose any topic we’d like to research and go gather information using various methods (interviews, surveys, observation, etc). It's basically designed to give us experience in doing fieldwork and analyzing our results.
So, me being me, I decided to look at magicians! When magic becomes official homework, you know you are in a good program!
I’m looking at magic communities, both online and offline and how magicians interact with one another and how they incorporate magic into their personalities. Right now, I’m looking for a few more magicians to talk to. This isn’t a huge project that will be published anywhere or anything, it’s just an undergrad experiment. But if any of you would like to participate, I’d appreciate it. Right now, I’m just gathering thoughts and ideas on various issues within magic and general biographical information. If you would like to be involved in my project, please PM me and I’ll send you a list of questions. I won’t use anyone’s real name or anything in my report (unless you want me to) and your confidentiality is assured. And of course, there will be absolutely no magic exposure.
I'm just trying to get a wider range of people, so everyone from eager newcomers to the pros are welcome!
It really won’t take long and it would help me enormously! Thanks!
