Had my first gig friday

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

Well done. I usually control it to the bottom then back to the top as well.

Very well done!

I like Mattdini's idea of double lifting it and getting a sneaky glimpse while the spec sees nothing but the bottom card glimpse is probably the safe way to go!

The DL version can work quite nicely. One way I do it sometimes is to DL, show the spec the card as has been said and that catch a glimpse of top card with a slight break of the DL when putting it back on the deck. Although the bottom to top method is by far the simplest.

The original post is by MOOdini (:P) on the first page:
You can always get it second from the top, turn the top card over, and dl....you will show them the card (with apparent back facing you) and ask them "this isn't yours is it?" they say no, but in the process you get to see theirs.....

I think by this, he means to control the selection to second from the top.

At this point, turn over the top card. Then lift two cards (so you now have a double backer). As if you were going to perform Ellusionist's SS (or chameleon change). [If that exposed the colour change... Then I guess it should be removed. But I don't think it did.]

Instead of performing the colour change, show the spectator the top card, whilst glimpsing the actual selection on the other side of it.

Is anyone familiar with the bubble peak? The sole intention of this move is to glimpse the top card of the deck quickly and undetectably. Anyone needs more info then PM me...I don't wanna say too much here for fear of exposure.

One other method I've used is in springing the cards from hand to hand with the cards face up - it's easy and unsuspicious to glimpse the top card whilst you're squaring them back up properly.

i glimpse the top card openly by lifting it up off the deck with the right hand, back towards spectators and say 'im using poker sized cards, you can see theyre slightly wider than a standard deck'
As im saying this i gesture the width using the left index finger, then replace the card back on top, false cut if you really think you have to, and away you go..!

Wow! A paid gig! Congratulations are in order.
As for me-as Juliet said to her Mum: It is an honor that I dream not of.
Most likely I'll spend my time and money for YEARS to learn what I want to know about magic, without ever being paid even once! Unless you count my husband's applause . . . I like that. For me, that's payment enough. I don't know if I'll EVER be able to do anything for a paying audience. The expectations are beyond me, I think.
Congratulations!!!!

Came up with a funny glimpse the other day. I just came up with it out of nowhere after I had someone pick a card and return it. I palmed the card off the top and waved my hand past my face as I asked them to imagine their card big and bold in front of them in mid-air, waving my hand as to illustrate where the card should be, then put the deck down and the palmed card down. Then i just pretented to read the card from his body language. He was quite amazed and I was quite amused.
