The Effect.
The spectator is shown a small coloured square of silk, which is stuffed into the magicians hand and then is made to disappear. The magician then claims that it was actually in his/her pocket all the time and takes it out again.
After showing the spectator that it is still there (and still a coloured silk square of silk) the magician claims that they can teach a chosen spectator how to do the same trick.
They take the silk and place it into the spectators hand, closing the hand into a fist. They then ask the spectator to concentrate very hard on making the silk disappear. After a short time you say that “that should be enough concentration”, and look into the spectators hand.
Now, the spectator
knows they still have a silk in their hand. What they don’t know is that the silk is now in fact a pair or ladies panties!
The magician can now say something like, “Well, I can clearly see what you were concentrating on!!!!” and totally embarrass the spectator to the amusement of everyone else.
Difficulty. 2/5
1=I can do it, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)
Fairly easy. There are sleights – but so easy that I would still rate it as a 2.
Review.
When I received this I wasn’t very impressed at all. Most people in this forum, if not everyone will realise how it is done so I don’t think I am giving too much a way if I mention that it uses a TT. The problem is that I always thought that using a TT would be far too obvious. Boy was I wrong.
It may be very obvious to you as a performer – but it certainly fools most people.
So far I have mainly used this at dinner parties – and it is great for embarrassing a friend or colleague.
Rating. Effect/item: 7/10, Quality of goods: 7/10, Value for money: 10/10 (its £2.95 for goodness sake!)
Bottom Line.
I would mainly recommend this as a good way of getting used to using a TT in your performance, as at £2.95 this offers a great way of getting acquainted with the wonderful little thing.
I would also recommend getting a book such as “101 things to do with a TT” as this offers some very good advice on general use.
