Slydini Silks

Postby RobLaughter » Mar 28th, '07, 01:15

I've been wrestling with this beast for a good two months now off and on (I never had any sort of instructions--just a couple of silks and some time to divine the method), and I never could figure out how to work out the granny knot.

I bought Bill Malone's "On The Loose: Volume 1" recently on which Bill describes his handling. Still, even when I follow the instructions to a tee, if I pull the granny knot as tightly as I can, I can't undo the knot.

I wanted to see how tightly the silks could be pulled so I could prepare for the worst possible scenario in performance--the Incredible Hulk could wind up with my silks for all I know... Now I'm left with some crumpled silks with little holes from where I had to use the tines of a fork to undo the knot and no clue how to properly undo a tight granny knot. Can anyone lend some tips that they've picked up while performing the effect?

Thanks,
Rob

Hi,

For a start, the reef knot is by far easier to workwith than the granny knot. Secondly, are you holding the correct ends? Check carefully on your video (I haven't seen it) and I'd imaginge he'll teach you how to deal with both knots - the techniques are different.

Hope that helps.

I think he does teach that knot, and that's all fine and well if I'm tying the knot. The problem comes (or would come, as I'm not going to perform this until I get this worked out) when the spec ties the knot.

I think I have it worked out, but I'd still love to hear from some people who have learned to combat this problem.

Ciao,
Rob
