I've discovered quite by chance that I can naturally spin a card from my fingers into the air and gently down on the table in front of me into the same spot every time. I can also do it end over end and send it spinning up at an angle and back down onto the table, like a boomerang. I've never been into flourishes like this, so can anyone tell me what are these moves called?

It's a very zen feeling to ding card after card against the drinking glass beyond my keyboard. I'm working on landing them on top of it now, so I can fly them into the spectator's outstretched palm.

The basic move is that I just grasp the very corners of the end with thumb and middle finger and pull my thumb in so that it slips off the end with a slight "thwack". The card gains a small amount of forward momentum. It spins forwards for about a foot then slowly drops, still spinning. You have to angle the card slightly to get it to fly flat and not roll off at an angle, which is the real knack.

I learnt this from a website a while ago. It takes a while to get it perfect but it's quite satisfying when you can do it. To be honest I have no idea what it's called, I would simply call it a card boomerang but there's probably an actual name somewhere.
I was doing this, but catching the card instead, in my school's sports hall last year, and new cards can spin at least 40 feet into the air when you have the nack.

I saw Gregory Wilson do something like that on one of his DVDs recently, Jack. I think he called it the Boomerang Card of Death. Very cool stuff. The card landed back in the deck.

Can you get the cards to land in the glass? It would be pretty f. impressive if you could put a glass infront of each spectator and flick a card into each one.

This may be something different but I recall seeing a Paul Harris Art of Astonishment DVD clip which had a boomerang card type thing where he flung a card high up into the air and caught it again.

Yep, that's what I can do, about 1 minute into the video - the card boomerang. It would probably be possible to get the card to land back into the deck, I can't see why not. I will try later maybe.
It also works with business cards, in case anyone was wandering, but not quite as well.

I haven't given this much of my practice time yet, but feel I ought to!

It's not really throwing, it's a sort of fast spin down caused by pinching the end corners together. It looks like a helicopter landing. The card spins out of my pinch and flies out in front of me, and if I've got the angle right (slightly to the left I assume because I'm left handed), simply sinks to the table as it rotates at a high rate of knots. Just pull your thumb in slowly until it pops off the corner as the card sits cradled in compression and the rest is self working, for want of a better description. Once you find your natural range and angles, you know where you're going to put it.

Someone must know what it's called. It's so obvious I can do it on demand! It has to have been done before now!

If this is inadvertent exposure, please shoot, I mean tell, me. It's just such an obvious and impressive way of revealing a card it must be called something.

If they say this is wxposure then I'm leaving. It so isn't!

It sounds very cool, but a video would be nice, if technology permits, to convey the full coolness.

I bet there are Ultimate Frisbie names for those moves. You'd use the vertical landing one for slow dropping over the end zone whilst your mate pegs it.
