Everyday Wallet

Postby majs » Mar 26th, '07, 20:45

Hi,
So I'm looking to replace my wallet and thought that I might as well get one that I could do a few tricks with. I know there are different kinds so I'll keep my options open (mentalist, card to wallet, etc...) My main criteria is that it can be used or you are using it as your primary wallet. You know, with credit cards and bills. I'm in the US so only $ bills used.

Also, I guess another criteria, is that I can't palm a card that good. (window problem and small hands)

As an added consideration, I normally have my wallet in my back pocket. It's not a deal breaker if its a front hip wallet, just thought I'd mention that I seldom wear a jacket ... I guess I'll just have to see what you guys and gals have to say.

Any suggestions? What do you use? And are you happy with it? Pros and cons? Thanks a bunch! :D

This http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic14565. ... ght=wallet seems to be the wallet of choice. After Farlsborough mentioned how good this wallet is I have been searching to see if anything seems to compare... i can't find anything that looks as good.

Read this review and I am sure it will convince you to buy this one.

It really is the cheapest most quality made wallet that is good for everyday use (or so it seems).

As far as palming goes... rather than trying to find a method to get around it... just learn how to do it.

Hope this helps,
AcrylicAce

edit: i just reread the part about the problem with palming cards... rarely are people hands too small to palm... you should make sure this is the problem for sure before you give up on it altogether.

I didn't know there was such thing as a wallet made specifically for magic.

I usually keep a dupe' in my business card holder for teleporting card tricks and such. I always get caught when I try to tenkai one into my pocket.

I'm not too familiar with palms. At all.

I only know tenkai and back.

CP?

the outlaw wallet has been upgraded. I have one of the originals and there is enough room for a couple of credit cards and notes. I use it every day. A great utility item although not suitable for card to wallet.
Not sure how version 1.1 fares, but I think there is more space in it.

not a fan of sigs, so I won't bother adding o..... oh

Thank you guys for the feedback so far. I'll look into those wallets.

You can see the card when I try to hold the deck while palming (last 3 fingers). Not natural looking when just regular palm. My hand is just small. I still trying it out though every once in a while just to check/practice to see if it's just me. :D

If this is exposure please edit or delete. Thanks.

Hey Majs,
How old are you? Because I really doubt your hand is smaller than a playing card!

It's true, having big meaty hands can help people, but my hands aren't particularly big or fat and I manage OK... Sankey always goes on about how small his hands are, but I would be surprised if he struggles to palm a card these days!

It's all about chops. Or "hutzpah", or whatever you want to call it. A bit of misdirection, getting a feel for the off-beat and you're away. If in doubt, ask a question! I'd really recommend getting the Real Man's Wallet and taking it as a challenge to practice and develop your palming. If for the only reason that many of the "no palming card to wallet" wallets look very suspicious, not at all like a day to day wallet.

One final clarification that I hope helps you in your search - for some reason, a "hip wallet" is the size you're looking for, also called a billfold - the one that fits in your back pocket and looks like the sort of wallet people carry these days!

Farlsborough

I just got a wallet today. I bought the Royal Magic from World Of Magic. Plenty of space for credit-cards, notes, etc. It looks pretty much the same as my normal wallet with the only exception being that there's no compartment for coins when used as a regular wallet. Other than that it's a great card-to-wallet prop and will perform all required functions of a normal wallet.

I only got it this morning and I'm trying to figure it out a good way to set-up the collosal killer in there (anyone who doesn't know what it is should look it up!)
