Loading card to wallet

Postby AcrylicAce » Apr 5th, '07, 02:51

Hey all,
Haven't gotten my wallet yet but I just had a question so that I know once I get it.

When you load it... do you prefer to do it at the same time you go to pull it out or do you prefer to load it and continue to patter a bit and then show your hands empty when you go for it.

I have only seen the first version where you load as you pull it out but was just wondering if anyone does it the other way.

Thanks,
AcrylicAce

BTW: Not sure if this is exposure or not... I don't think it is... but if it is just let me know and I will edit or the mods can edit if they would like.

The main point is that if you load and then continue to talk or show your hand empty, you need a fairly good reason to have gone near your pocket. If it's the same pocket that you keep a pen or pad in and they have taken some form of role in the trick, fine, but I would do the load as you reach for the wallet. The trick is to load, then change your hand position so you pull the wallet out with just your finger and thumb, and bring it out that way - it's just a good convincer that you're doing everything fairly, they don't think that while your hand was behind your back you could have been doing anything

This depends on the type of wallet, and the type of load. For example, when I do my wallet trick, I START by putting my wallet on the table. I load it with a "mercury" card as I pick up the wallet. A Mullica wallet could be performed this way too.

Loading Card

:) I have a 6 inch x 3 inch piece of white card sticking up.It is printed 'IOU The contents of my wallet, IF the trick fails etc.' Also the card has my name address, phone number etc.on it. This is the slide. So I reach in for the IOU, do the works, give it to him & collect the wallet a few patter lines later.

I do both ways depending on the effect......in one instance I will need to get it in my wallet right at the start and delay the reveal.......but to keep it from lookin odd, I misdirect by placing both hands in my pockets and pretend to be looking for something......then I have it planted and my hands can come out without suspision.

In the other sense, I have a couple of effects that are delivered at a much faster pace and require me to plant the card and remove the wallet at the same time....

For me it depends on the effect, but both can and do work well!
