On the pull...

Postby IAIN » Apr 13th, '07, 10:32

Do you use them? Why? How?...and if you don't...why not?

i've not used one for a little while, but my favourite one, is a heath-robinson style Werry pull...only cost me a fiver i think...

i've added a little neo to mine too for extra pulling power, and that in turn is hidden under some blu-tak...

it's often overlooked these days, as being obvious...but surely, thats the genius of magic? its only obvious to us, cos we are using the damn thing...

with the correct natural hand movements, and misdirection..its invisible...

have you got a favourite? i quite like the look of the fancier leather ones..

Mine is also a heath-robinson affair, fashioned from a simple reel and a neo on the end, which can easily be swapped for other 'grabbers'

i'd like to get round to trying to make a swiss=army knife style TT too...

pinch of stars n hexes, a swami, IT and the invisible TT all mixed together...

should be fairly easy with a hard TT, all held out via a pull...i saw a differernt version of the raven the other day, that had a reel involved...never had a raven in the first place so it's hard to describe...

I am always rigged up with a cig pull which I also use to vanish a pencil.
The vanish of a lit cig always astounds as if it was somewhere about your person, surely smoke would be appearing from somewhere?
A winner every time. If anyone asks me to repeat it, I do cig vanish using a t-t so both methods are completely different.
Never got round to getting a universal pull but am tempted by the vernet one which seems to be good quality.
My cig pull came as part of a set called Trio Cigarette and was the best gimmick in it. Had it for years and no one has ever sussed anything out.

All magi should have one!

Never used one but probally should could be quite useful in certain situations. I just can't be bothered with the hookup.

If you have a jacket you regularly wear for magic, you can keep it hooked up. When peformed well, it works a real treat and baffles laymen completely.

I bought a month or two ago the vernet universal pull as a curiousity. Now I can see the useful qualities but couldn't seem to set it up to work comfortably. Mind you the intructions on the vernet seemed to presume I would be wearing a 19th Century gentlemans tuxedo jacket with tails and unfortunetly mine is at the dry cleaners.

I made quite a nice pull from a ping pong ball and a neo magnet a while ago. They're such useful little things, nearly as useful as the TT.

I've been looking at the vernet one, I might get myself one of them next time I do any magic shopping.

I could leave it hooked up, I actually used to do that with the raven but it used to annoy me when I had to take it out to wash it and then put it back on in the end I ended up ruining the the felt on the raven because i left it on to many times in the wash just bone idle that's me.

I got fed up with the Raven ages ago, I can never be bothered to mess around setting it up. I only really used to use it to help me ditch palmed coins, now that my coin handling is much better, it's not been out of it's box for a few months.

My Raven was a waste of money, because I didn't use it until modifying it a la "Get Fluxed" (available today at NUMS  do I get comission Seige?!), which I find is an infinitely better method - it's given the old bird a new lease of life!

I didn't use mine either I just set it up and left it there so I wasn't too bothered when it broke. Actually I'm glad it broke because I'm actually thinking of other uses for the parts now.
