My Fancy New Jacket

Postby Django » Apr 12th, '07, 22:52

So I got a fancy new jacket, okay so it's not fancy and it's not actually new. It's my old german army light jacket that I wear almost every day, but I brought it to a tailor down the street and had him make a few adjustments.

1. an inner pocket, low enough to drop a deck without raising my elbow. I got it specifically so I could perform Yakaza's Ambevelant Card standing up. I figured it could also be useful ditching things and clipping bills and cards to the lip to be switched in.

2. a small pocket just behind my hip (about my 4 o'clock) big enough to hold a few magnets for ditching shims.

3. button holes in both pockets (now all I need is an IT reel :) )

4. some stiff inner cuffs for ditching coins, etc. that way.

The tailor made them out of material he was able to remove from the inside so it matches perfectly and has zero chance of flashing. And all for under $20.

Any ideas on adjustments I may have left out or tricks that would be better with my fancy new jacket?

Nice idea Django, with such a common jacket too it wouldn't cause any suspicions. The only other thing I would do would be to cut a hole in the front pocket leading to the inner pocket so ditched items could be retrieved.

Any provisions for a full-blown topit?

Damn, I wish I had thought of that. Unfortunately, I'd have to raise the inside pocket, it begins a good inch or two below the bottom of the outside pocket.

If I thought about it I could also have put a smaller pocket inside so some things can stayed in the pocket and some things could be dropped through to the inside pocket.

By a topit, do you mean a "pull"? What do you mean full-blown? I was thinking about adding one of those half egg pulls. I can just safty pin that in easy enough.

No, I mean a topit

Essentially, it's a big pocket inside your coat where you can ditch items, similar to lapping, but while standing.

You can find out more here: http://www.fitchmagic.com/Topit.htm

Ciao,
Rob

P.S. I'm impressed you got all that done for $20. Mine was $45 for basic alterations!
