I have recently been revisiting some of the Luke jermay material I have. And this is just a thought that occured to me, so its not road tested by any means.
At the end of the effect, the performer shows that the persons phobia that was written down has disapeared off the paper.
I had the thought that with a little bit of dual reality, the rest of the audience will think that you have removed a phobia there on the spot.
For example:
The effect has just finished. The performer hands the slip to the spectator who then looks at it.
THe performer asks how the spec feels (just for a little time delay). Then the performer asks "what has happened to your phobia?"
The only response the spec can give is "Its gone/disappeared"
TO the audience this will look like you have cured the spec of a phobia on the spot.
