New effect...maybe?

Postby Mikey.666 » Apr 1st, '07, 21:36

i have an idea for a new card effect.

a brand new pack of cards is presented. it has the plastic around it and everything. the spec keeps hold of it for the time being. another deck is shown shuffled and a card selected and lost in the deck. five cards are taken out by the magician. the spec confirms one of those cards is their card. the rest of the deck is put to the side. the 5 cards are squared and the spec is asked to mentally take their card out turn it over and mentally put it face up in the new deck. now, to their amazement there is only four cards. the spec unwraps the new deck. breaks the seal, fans through and finds all cards are in order and only one card is face up...their card.

i've been thinking about this for a while now, and i can't seem to find any effects quite like this.
if ther eis any like this i would appreciate it if you told me :)
and what do you think?
thanks
mike.

Sounds pretty awsome to me. The only problem could be opening a new deck of cards each time it is performed but that really is a very minor thing.

It sounds like a great idea, but I've never seen anything like this.

Sounds like a beefed up version of the Biddle Trick with the added kicker of their card being in an "unopened" pack of cards. With yours, I'm guessing you'd have to force a card on the spec. With the Biddle Trick, the spec has a free choice of card. The magi then shows five cards and asks the spec if one of them is theirs. The magi then passes the remainder of the deck to the spec and recounts the cards to show there to be still 5 in his hand.
With a magical gesture, the cards are now turned over again and only 4 remain - the other is found in the middle of the deck in the spec's hand face up.
Sound familiar :?:

i saw a guy called Magic Roy perform this effect a couple of months ago. the method jumped at me first time i watched it and i've been doing it for a while now.
this is what led me to make this "new" effect up.
the handling is quite different and to me is "more" impossible because it is a brand new sealed deck.

Well, in that case I would say it is clear the effect is not totally new. The two tricks are very similar just yours with an added ending. But, I do still agree... it is a great idea and sounds like a great trick.

Did anyone else think "R&S and an ID"?

I thought marked deck, ID + DS tape.
Pretty nice trick nevertheless.

I can think of a way to do this without an ID or R&S.

It sounds like a nice effect. Same as the biddle trick with an alternate handling..

Ive just set this up at work and tried it on someone.. it looks sweet and the reactions are great.

It is pretty much the biddle trick with a force though.. but its the end result that counts and anything that creates a great reaction is good.

Good thinking..
