Cigarette through card

Postby Dar_Kwan » Jan 15th, '04, 15:53

The Effect
Spectator freely chooses a card, this card is then returned to you, whereby you stick a borrowed Cigarette (could be a lit one I suppose) through the middle of the card, you then immediatly hand the card out for inspection & it is unharmed

Cost

about £8

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

3 but it's a real easy slight most newbie magicians (what was the term used elsewhere on this forum - Begicians - I like the BTW) will be able to do it

Review
The gimmick is realy well made & you should get years of use out of it.
& your not limeted to cigarettes any cylindrical object would do - I used a pencil on several occasions

Overall

9/10 - my only gripe with this is that you can't show both sides of the card when it has been penetrated by the cigarette. but otherwise this is a great trick that is realy easy to do

Great review - keep 'em coming!

(Check out http://www.emagictricks.co.uk/product_i ... cts_id=563 for further details.)

I'd guess this would probably be more acceptable these days than the cig through coin version as that one was well and truly blown on the Secrets Revealed programmes.

As with Interferrence and other 'penetration' effects which need a cigarette, you can also use a rolled up banknote...

Nice review - welcome to the board!

If you want you can use a pencil with it if you are performing with children.

for £10.95 you can show both sides
All new cig thru

This is the one I bought, it is well made and very deceptive.

And the slieghts

Postby SlipperyPenguin » May 20th, '04, 16:18

Hi all..

As a nubi to magic (still on chapter 3 of the RRTCM) does this teach you all the sleights required or does it assume you know how to.. say.. force a card etc.. Some things I can already do pretty fluently.. other sleights I'm still struggling with and I don't want to be frustrated by having to turn elsewhere to learn those required.

Without giving the game away.. can any card be picked by the spectator. (I realise this may give something away ! so please PM me if needs be) and is it their card that is returned to them for inspection.

Thanks

Slippery

I don't own this effect Penguin, but I'm guessing it's a gimmicked card and the sleight involved would be with regards to the mechanism involved.

Anyone know different?

if this is the same as soft spot then all you need is that little doodad that blaine uses to show the top card wrong then change it   .
