Lit cigarette vanish

Postby odracir » Apr 16th, '07, 20:03

Hi,

Could anyone point me where can i learn a routine to end a lit cigarette in my hand and then make it vanish?

Thanks

The humble TT, but it may need a bit of prep depending on the material.

John Cornelius has one of the most beautiful and visual vanishes of a cigarette (not lit though) that I have come across!

If exposure please modify!!!

I use a TT as stated by Cardza and the Vernet one is the best for this and it comes with a routine for cig vanish.
Even better (in my opinion) is the cig pull. There's one here:
http://www.cards4magic.co.uk/acatalog/C ... Magic.html

as well as some other tasty cig tricks. The one I got was part of a set called 'Trio Cigarette' which according to this:
http://www.tenyoworld.co.uk/Productsname2.htm
is still available.
You can vanish a pencil with this too and do it with your sleeves rolled up.

If you do a search, I reviewed Trio Cigarette on this here forum.

Or kitchen foil, that works.

OK. Thank you all for your posts. The cornelius DVD seems very nice, it's here: http://www.mymagic.com/cornelius.htm but the routines i guess are too advanced for my level.

I was looking more for some device that would come out of your sleeve (with a cable or something) and then back into it, so you could show yourself ending the cig in your palm (with the back of your hand facing the audience), then you would close it (already with the device back in your sleeve, with the cig in it) ... and show the vanish. Sorry if this is exposure, but in fact all this is my idea, i've never seen any device like this... perhaps someone will want to create it.

Thanks

I was thinking more of the book "The Award Winning Magic of John Cornelius" - which isn't too difficult to perform actually, and does contain such a pull device I do believe :D.

That's what the cig pull does. Read my posts above. I even put links for you.
The info is there - you just need to READ it!

I got my first pull in a $3 magic kit when I was 6 or so; it's hardly a new idea. Why not make something like that for about 50 cents worth of material at your local fabric store?

Yes, you could make one easily. I suppose if you don't know what it is then you can't!

BTW Rob, love the cigarette routine on your website. Very nice.

Some pulls extinguish the cig, others (like the one listed above) keep it alight for a short while enabling you to re-introduce it lit later in the routine.

For the TT I always use a couple of pieces of tin foil roughly cut into circles and gently moulded into the bottom of the TT. And if you are going to do this into an item of clothing do be careful putting the cig in. I've had girls on works brewery visits taking their blouses off to watch me stick burning cigs in them. That was enjoyed by everyone. But, be careful, a friend of mine, on stage, caught the jacket with the cig and burnt it. He went out at the end of the night to load his gear and found his car damaged.

Blimey! Not good...

There is a lesson on the TT in the first volume of Tarbell Course In Magic which covers cig vanishes. I know I mention these books rather a lot, but I have got so much from them.
Though TT's were metal when these books were written...

The vernet ones are strong enough to not melt in any way. I often do it with someones jacket and it's suprising how quick they extinguish.
