I like it the way it is. Don't see any reason for changing. Hey, maybe someday there will be an offline pub called The Dove's Head as a result of this!

I've always wanted to name a pub "The Dog And B*st*rd". How about that?

My favourite english pub in Athens is called "The Flying Pig" (10 draft ales, 80 single malt, excellent food, huge TV with sport events :D ) , but 1 out of two pubs here in Greece is just called "Irish Pub" :D

Around here, the big pub chains move in, attract all the "tap heads" who then spend Saturday night fighting. They quickly have their licenses revoked and close down[1]. Meanwhile, the decent little backstreet boozers with excellent cellars continue like little communities as if nowt had happened. My local has all the real ales pegged at £2/pint. I ventured into another place a couple of weeks ago to meet some people and got charged £3.70 for a bloody lager! Stuff that for a lark!

[1] Actually, there's one exception. It has serious heavies on the door, demands photo ID, which is scanned but never deleted when you leave contrary to the Data Protection Act, has cameras all over the place and is louder than bombs inside, even in the front lounge area.

I'm a real ale fan myself... thank goodness I live in Yorkshire.

Tomo, that reminds me of that TV to Go sketch...

"Hi, erm, got any ales?"
"Ales?! You mean beer? If you want beer, it's bud, and it comes in a bottle."
"Don't you have anything on tap?"
"On tap? Beer? What magical fairy world do you come from, where the streets are paved with gold, and beer flows out of taps..."

Sadly if you go to bars and "trendy" pubs, this is all to close for comfort :?

As I'm close to Soho, what about calling it The Sword Swallowers?
