Card Misprint

Postby Sir_Digby_Chicken_Ceaser » Apr 19th, '07, 19:16

I'm just after a bit of advice. I just recentl bought myself a bacl tiger deck from my local magic shop but after opening (like 5 mins ago) ive noticed that one of the cards is very off centre front and back with some of the number and pip cut off.

Now usually this wouldn't be too much of a problem to me as it it still very usuable although when I'm paying around£3-4 for a deck like black tigers i would like a decent standard.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had problem like this and what, if anything can be done.

Cheers

Sam

buy this, learn how it works, and apply said principle to your card!

i don't think you are allowed to put ebay links.

you can return the ace of spades along with the guarenty card and the uspcc will send you a brand new deck

I have a deck of Black Tigers with red pips and there were two extra cards the deck which I thought were misprints. One was an AOS which was off centre, the other was a three of clubs which has a normal white face but with a Black Tiger back.
The correct ones are also in the deck, so I assume these are extra gaff cards which you can work into or create effects with.
Have a look and see if there's a normal ace of spades too. My deck had these instead of the two advert cards.

Must be a faulty one then...

Still you could do a good effect with d/l. Force card on them, shuffle to top fo deck, d/l, shake the pack (or wave hands mysteriously) and the card is, in the words of Elvis, all shook up! :D

Nope, won't be possible I'm afraid in this instance.

Although it is a great bit of card magic!

The answer's to simply take the deck back to the local magic shop, where you purchased it, and ask for a replacement deck.

AIUI, the USPCC will only exchange faulty decks of their own, and not decks that they manufactured as a 'special' batch for another company (such as E).

Your consumer rights, in this case, entitle you to a replacement deck from the merchant where the purchase was made - let them sort the problem with Ellusionist

I have no reciepts or nothing like that. And the deck was bought a good while ago before only recently being opened, will this kae a difference?

Maybe. It'll do no harm to try though.

How long is a good while ago?

Technically, even if you've lost the recipt, you still have a right to an exchange (but not a refund!).

If you're really stumped there, though, I'd suggest (morally spurious though it may seem), visiting the shop again, buying a SECOND pack (obviously retaining the receipt), and then - say 20 minutes later - taking your duff deck back with the new receipt, and asking for a refund or replacement.

Whilst this may seem somewhat 'dodgy' to others, you know you were sold a dud in the first place, so I'd have little hesitation in following this course of action (bad, BAD Rob!!!)

Well if you're going down that route why not just go to the shop and practice a deck vanish* with a brand new pack?

*I cannot condone theft......unless of course you're not caught.
