anyone have any tips on how to end cleanly for the coin matrix? it is a great effect and it would be awesome if ther was a way to end without the spectator noticing. i know about misdirection, but i was just wonderin if there were any other ideas.

Do a clean version--only use four coins!

Gotta go with Rob on this. I have only done this with four coins and four cards, or the modified Houdini version with four coins and two notes and/or cards. Start clean and end clean...just like my coins across routine.

The trick is pretty easy. Most **coin** magic books have it, I believe.

I think I first saw it on Bill Malone "On The Loose" Vol. 2. It's a great series if you can swing $110 for them. Then again, there's always http://mallusionist.com/.

It is in one of Walter Gibson books on Houdini called Houdini's Magic, pp. 11-14.

You may want to see Martin Breese's website. He is selling the Bertini DVD, which has a nice version of this as well.

There are several versions in the Coin Classics chapter of Bobo - look for "Sympathetic Coins". I use his suggestion of kneeling down on the carpet - very effective. I don't use a handkerchief, just a vanish for each coin.

It's also in Henry Hay's Amateur Magician's Handbook and there's a whole chapter in Bruce Elliott's "Classic Secrets of Magic" if you can find a copy.

There are ways to end "clean" no matter which method you use. It is worth making a study of various card and coin techniques. With some knowledge, thought and practice, you can come up with a clean ending.

There are quite a few different ways to do this and end clean.

As said before, you can use a 4 coin version. You could use a shell, I've cleaned up with a Raven in the past or there are about 101 differen sleights that you could use to ditch the odd coin, lapping tends to work quite nicely. Check Bobo, there should be some ideas in there.

I agree with Lady of Mystery, if you own a coin magic book just look in the front and it will give you a way to clear up that nasty little coin. And if you don't have a coin magic book, buy the cheapest one you can find and it will tell you what you need to know.
