My take on it, is it really doesn't matter. Just have whatever you feel comfortable with. I don't see why you can't use your own name, though perhaps a stage name might be good if your doing children's magic. But unless your name is John Smith even then you could use your own name.

Yea, I get what you mean happy toad. I just dont feel comfortable with my name, but i certainly dont want a name like "Uncle Ben" or "the great benzini" because kids shows arnt what i do, but i can see myself needing to do the odd kids show to help fill the gap between other gigs if i turn pro.

Cheers toady,

btw I'd be Smokey Wills

Ben - I've just read this thread for the first time...

How about:

Ben Bradley?

That's got a real 'ring' to it I reckon... (if you use it I think that's 5% cut from now on for all your paid gigs under this name)

(btw everyone - my porn name is Buffy Harvey. )

aliteration gods gift to stage names! I like that I'm thinking that i'l use that or my real name for walkaround and the more "smart" gigs and then use "bean" for "the incredible bean street show" when i get it back and running over the summer.
Thanks again guys,
any other ideas for stage names using aliteration?

Nah Ben Bradley definitely rocks.

I'm thinking 'Zack Swift' for when I finally make it.

We'll see...

Snowy McArthur
Flanders McArthur
or
Tangerine McArthur.

Strange how a lot of us seem to have not noticed this thread before - could it have been an inv isible thread? (Sorry!) If you're doing a slightly less serious gig, how about Benny Bean - the Magic Machine?

What about

"Lez Vegas!"

Love that one..

Or do something like Houdini and just pinch someone elses and alter it a little.

Or find a book/film,etc you really like and use a characters name.

or this is the best one..Do an anagram of your name to create anothe one. Take for instance, if you rearange the letters for "Virginia Bottomley" you get, "I'm An Evil Tory Bigot"

He hE hE

There you have it! Why not call yourself woody woodpecker!

Its funny, goes with your name, and it immediately attracts attention

One of Houdini's biggest regrets in later life was that he had not been performing under his real name.
