Made from a second hand briefcase, shoe box, cardboard, felt and lotsa glue. The idea behind the compartment box is to hide anything that is an obvious gimmick from wandering eyes. The sticker paper is just there to cover the brand label. Too bad my feet aren't the size of a sheet of paper.

It provides a flat surface should I find myself desperate for one. The ridges I could do without for cosmetic reasons but they do make it a little more easier to flip over cards.

I would like to hear opinions on what you like and/or would do differently.

That looks good and if it works for you then it's perfect! I saw a professional close up guy performing a year or two ago and he used a home made box, about the same size and shape as your case but with no front on it so he could stash stuff inside. As he told me afterwards, it was made out of recycled chip board from a packing crate and covered in black velvet fabric which he 'acquired' from a rubbish skip outside a cloth store somewhere. Total cost was about $2 for glue and nails and it did exactly what he needed.

I have a large old pilot's type case to keep all of my goodies in, as well as all instructions, books, accessories etc, and have a smaller chrome flight case which I keep my day to day favourite tricks in!( I have a contact who makes these to order, so therefore any size. If anyones interested PM me - I can post a pic up )

I like the idea of having your close up mat fitted to the top, but found mine kept getting snagged and damaged!
