Lost in Fife

Postby Morgan » Apr 24th, '07, 23:37

Hi all.
I'm currrently living in Fife, Scotland and I'm in a kind of magical wilderness at the moment.
My good mother had the sense to rekindle my boyhood interest in magic by buying me a kids magic set three years ago (I'm 34... ), and since then, I've not looked back.
I've ploughed my way through numerous "standard" magic books by Mark Wilson, Hugard, Paul Zenon, and various others and have picked up a few nice little effects that don't rely too much on gimmicks and gaffs.
Having bought some utter schtick on e-bay in the beginning, I'm finally finding a little direction in what I like to perform and am ABLE to perform convincingly.

However!
Much as I love the possibilities of mentalism, (I will always remember seeing Max Maven on TV as a kid), I cannot help but feel that the current popularity of that bloke who does shows on Channel 4, what his name? Darren something or other.... may be influencing me slightly? (I once took up Karate the week after seeing little Daniel and Mr Miyagi in action).
At present I feel that I may be heading into a Kids Magic show hell as I've performed a couple of little shows for my friends kids and it's going down a storm! But I want to be a SERIOUS magician....

The trouble for me is there is so MUCH magic out there.

In short I'm stuck at a magic crossroads...once I decide which direction to go in...I'll have my own TV special in no time! :D

Hi and welcome to TM

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
