The book is great but I must admit I did start to struggle on some of the moves until that is I bought the R. Paul Wilson Dvd set which acts as your own personal tutor. One on its own is fine, but together they are Ace.

Yes, it's a great combination. You CAN learn it all from the book, but to see it peformed (and the camera angles are great on this DVD) accelerates learning greatly.
The added tips and effect from Paul are excellent and make this DVD an even more worthy tool.
Anyone who is studying Royal Road, will benefit greatly from this set.

They're very good aren't they?
I have never seen the 4 disc version, but I have heard it's very inferior to this one. All is explained in detail and with the book combined, you are going to master these things quicker than you would using the book alone.

The 4 disc version I really like, he adds what he likes to the DVDs so that there are some slieghts that are not in the book. It is a Great DVD set. :)

So you have two dvd collections of the RRTCM, the wilson one and the green boxed one. Which is better and why?

Thanks

Ok, just ordered the Paul Wilson one, it's more expensive so I suppose it should be better. hehe

Ordered this book along with Mordern Coin Magic so looking forward to having a good read and understanding of card magic!

Reading this thread I see there are DVD's available?! Are these worth getting along with the book?

Cheers,
Adam

I have seen a video clip of Paul Wilson doing the 3 cards across. This was an excerpt from the DVD. I did not approve. He was not doing it as the book instructed and the presentation was as dull as dishwater. The book tells people how to present card magic in an entertaining way and I am afraid Wilson didn't read those bits of the book properly.

When you do 3 cards across you should have the spectator drop the cards all over the place as the book instructs and not in a neat pile as Wilson does it.

I do not think anyone except the authors of books should presume to do DVDs without the permission of said authors. Especially if they have the personality of a dead fish.

I have not seen any other excerpts from the DVD and I don't want to. I don't like to see the masterpiece of a book murdered by incompetent performance.

Leave the book alone I say and do not torture it with interference from outside sources. It was doing very well up to now.

I have recently acquired card college, and having only had it for a couple of weeks, have already found it invaluable to me, it has pretty much everything I want to know as a beginner and more. I can tell it's going to serve me well for a long time and it's great fun, I start doing some practicing, and before I know it it's 4 in the morning and my hand is cramped to buggery.

The question is, do I bother getting Royal Road as well? do you think it is worth it or will card college be enough for now? I do like the idea of having the DVDs as it can be more helpful than a book usually, but do I really need it? Money is definitely a factor as I am currently saving up to move. The only reason I could see to get it would be if it would significantly increase the learning cruve.
