You might have tipped the wink on the Aardvark a little but, if you check out http://www.emagictricks.co.uk/product_i ... ts_id=1093, you'll see you're not alone. Now's the chance to replace your antique!

Ah the good ol' TT.

It took me a year before I became comfortable with it. It wasn't until I saw the Pat Page TT video where he explains that the tip should never be seen any. He then proceeds to vanish a silk using the the outer shell of a matchbox and you don't see it. Obviously the better looking the TT the more relaxed you can be.

And as for people knowing about its existence? I was talking to someone recently about the fact I perform magic and he said the best thing he had ever seen close up, was where a magi changed his £5 note in to a £50 note.

So obviously not everyone has seen Penn & Teller.

 oops!
My erm "aardvark" is ver different to those by the looks of them. the antique has cut out side so it fits snuggly over the webbing between the fingers. (couldnt)see it on those ones. :?

No probs! Actually, I think the picture is the same as the TT picture so may not be representative. I was told many moons ago that a certain Mr.H.Houdini used something very similar to one of your Aardvarks to conceal items which may, or may not, be useful in undoing locks etc. Apparently nobody ever spotted the anomaly even though he was stark naked at the time. It just doesn't bear thinking about, does it?!

O and there i was thinking he had a prosthetic glad to secrete these items

But surely people went up to him and er "patted him down" and manacled his hands and such. Must have worked a treat!

I may have mislead you guys a little - the Aardvark was normally located very close to the TT, and not in the, er, trouser department. Even if he had no trousers on. Apparently dear old Bess (his wife, not Dick Turpin's horse) would give H a sweet and gentle kiss before he was incarcerated - and would pass him several picks and shims in the process. Now that's my kinda woman, looked like an angel and carried a locksmith's toolbox under her tongue!!

TT's - never seen

Postby levit » Feb 24th, '04, 18:45

I've read through most of the tips here but very simply (and most magic is simple) people don't see it. They're not looking and with simple practise and common sense you'll get away with it always. here's a tip, push a silk or similar into your other hand without the TT. Now do it with the TT. Get it?? A pinching with your thumb and forefinger looks so much more natural that shoving away with your thumb!

This might be classed as sexist and stupid (I've been called worse in my time) but how do the ladies get on with TTs? OK, they may have smaller digits anyway but, assuming they use nail varnish, do they keep a selection of TTs varnished to match, or use varnish remover in readiness for the next time, or do they not wear varnish at all? It seems to me that a TT varnished to match the rest of the digits would be even more disguised.

Just wondering, that's all  !

and the "no need for camoflage" talk that was going on earlyer.

PS. Mine has pink nail varnish

But along the disguise lines i have just finished making 5 sets of "cig thru card" in the main back designs that the guys and gurls use in college- O yea :D I'l look like a god

Oh yes, absolutely, I don't have a problem with that concept at all but I was just curious. The ladies tend to take their appearance rather more seriously than the fellers and it was a stray thought which shot across the Mandrake mind because there's not a lot in there to stop it.

By the way, I usually get mine from L'Oreal - because I'm worth it  .

I've never really thought about varnishing my TT, and after the make up incident I don't intent to try it. I only really use clear nail varnish and then buff them (my nails are kept short due to playing intruments and I don't think bright red nail varnish ect on short nails looks good) so It's not really a problem for me. I'm not sure if nail varnish remover would work well on a TT, it might though, but if it didn't then you'd be be stuck with a varnished TT.
I think if you had varnished your nails then it probably wouldn't be noticed if your TT wasn't varnished, the same as the colour of TT doesn't really matter as they shouldn't have all their attention focused on it anyway. Just my opinion though.
