Card Warp Help.

Postby snicket » May 10th, '07, 19:06

Hey all,
I am having a problem with my card warp. Everyone wants to see my cards! What do I do? I have a show Saturday and wanted to do it, but not if I can't hand out the cards then they would know it is "gaffed".
So any help would be great!

Alot of times spectators can sense when a magician is nervous about something. This usually leads them to ask to see his props (in your situation, cards). My advice would be to work on your confidence with the trick and that confidence will shine through in your performance. You shouldn't have any more problems after that.

I find that moving straight onto another trick generally prevents anyone from asking to inspect stuff. Then end with a couple of tricks which can be inspected.

Are they asking to see the cards before or after the trick :?:

If it's before, then follow the advice already given  .

If it's after, I thought part of the routine was to tear the cards in half right at the end and then hand them out for examination anyway  .

The thing with CW is you can display the cards very fairly at almost finger tips before you get started.

Just doing that naturally and casually should stop anyone from questioning anything.

Are the people who want to inspect your props mainly friends and family? you will often find these people will want to "bust" you more than strangers!!

Also you may wish to seriously consider if you are doing anything, even something very subtle to tip the fact the cards are unusual, From saying "here i have two regualr cards", Handling the cards too delicately too just seeming very nervous!

Also how many times have you performed this if you have done it twice and one person asked you may have been unlucky. However if its nine times out of ten have you have a problem

Snicket,

If you are showing the 2 cards openly at the beginning, no one will have any interest in wanting to see the cards. When they have seen the magic, they can look at everything !!

Best way is to open with a couple of clean tricks first, that way they can inspect all they like. After that first couple of tricks you should have gained their trust, make a deck switch for the gimmicked deck and away you go.

It's actually more than possible to do card warp from a regular inspected deck... whereby the cards are inpected BEFORE and AFTER the effect.

I'm not sure where you learned it from, but the original version is quite flexible on this.

I have always done mine with two cards from the deck, do the effect, and then hand them out for inspection....
