DVDs similar to Still Fancy a Pot of Jam

Postby kitaristi0 » May 13th, '07, 09:13

I'm really loving James Brown's Pot of Jam DVD and was wondering whether anyone knew of any other DVDs with similar effects or that kind of misdirection-heavy, quick, presentational style? Seige mentioned Trickery by Dave Forrest in the Pot of Jam thread, but what are some others?

The David Forest Trickery DVD is ALL cards and it doesn't have the mix of effects that James has on his DVD.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

James has another one in the works apparently, should be good. If you can't wait for an indeterminate amount of time and want something now though, the Party Animal dvd from Alakazam has some similarities. It's also mainly cards but the range of effects is good and there is some clever misdirection stuff in there. There's a deck vanish that I now use regularly which is similar to but in my opinion better than the Psychological Deck Vanish from Pot of Jam.

I heard about James's new DVD and was wondering what it was about. I don't have Pot of Jam but I think I might get this one.

I always thought "still fancy a pot of jam" must have been a follow up to a dvd called "fancy a pot of jam"
Why is still in the title?

You might want to look at some Gregory Wilson stuff. His style is sort of what you describe. Maybe someone can recommend a suitable dvd for you.

The title was changed to due to legal issues between James/Alakazam, and an American magician who claimed ownership of one of the moves featured on the DVD. The release of the original 'Fancy a pot of Jam' was delayed so long because of this, that when the DVD was finally released, the word 'still' was placed at the front of the title.

I understand that the next DVD from James will contain his coin routine.

I had a brief look at his On The Spot dvd but at $50 + shipping from Penguinmagic (I couldn't find it elsewhere when I checked) it's a bit pricey for my taste.
