I like Ammars/Dexters flesh coloured putty. It's cleaner and doesn't break up as much and leave any residue smeared.
Only thing is, it's more expensive than wax, and it's only flesh coloured if you've been dead for a few months.

If the wax is never going to be seen, eg to hold a coin in a Boston box, you could use Blu-Tack or the white Bostik Stick n Fix.

Blu-tak etc. have a totally different property and use to wax.

i.e. decent wax can be applied like a crayon in a thin layer to create temporary 'sticky' cards—as it's transparent.

Also, it needs to be said that hard wax is very versatile with I.T., more so than blu-tak.

Soft wax, i.e. Ammar's 'Card to Ceiling' wax has a totally different property, and is practically useless for a lot of effects which demand hard wax.

Decent odourless, colourless magician's hard wax is essentially the best to use in terms of durability, quality and re-usability.

Household waxes just don't cut it.

I've found that beeswax is exactly the same as magicians wax, and I mix some vaseline into it. I can get it exactly as soft as I'd like simply by adding a little bit more vaseline into it.

I can't find any fault at all with what Seige has said in his posts ( which is usual I have to say, great minds think alike and all of that  )

Why on earth bother to find a substitute for something that only costs a couple of pounds and was specifically made with us magicians in mind?

I bought a small pot from magictricks.co.uk for about £2 and it's so far lasted a couple of years. I'm pretty sure that dentists wax will put you back at least two or more times this cost. Anything that you have to put in your mouth will have gone through so many labs to make it safe, you will no doubt pay the price for all of this at the pharmacy counter.

There are some things that just are not worth the effort and this is one of them.

I thought the same myself but I didn't wanna sound cheeky. You can get magician's was for a couple of pounds and mine has lasted me for ages.

Obviously its a case of each to their own but I find it confusing sometimes when people will happily pay 40 odd quid on a gimmick of E but not £2 on a specific product that will last.

I'm not stereo-typing or saying that anyone does that here

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.
