Spread cards out on the table

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

The ribbon spread looks much nicer when using a soft, spongy felt surface.

It *can* be done on a smooth surface, but requires more control, and a new deck of cards helps.

I use the pinky and ring finger as a 'moderating' device.

Thanks for the replies.

Any advice on how to "dribble" the cards?

You've also got to make sure that you do the ribbon spread with a semi-new deck. A totally worn out deck and will get you nowhere.

Yeah if your using a smooth surface you need to run the cards along the table while using a motion like when your springing the cards. You don't actually slide the cards but drop them along the table at regular intervals

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.

I don't drop the cards, myself. I do the actual spreading of the cards on the table. Also, if it's really good if you can do a spread on a surface similar in texture to a close-up mat.

Practice on a good surface like a chair, or carpet, first. Once you've got the jist of it, it should be easy to do the spread on a smooth surface. However, it will be difficult to turn the spread over on a smooth surface since there isn't enough friction to allow the cards to pivot on the table.

Have fun!
