So far as I know, Garcia is something to do with E's design/production team, so he's been with them for a while.

Remember 'Warning?'

The video looks very good. I'll have to keep an eye out for it. Preferably I'll be able to buy it from some other site than Ellusionist. Don't want to break the bank on one DVD.

Daniel Garcia has been with E for some time I've heard. The Loops DVD doesn't really interest me in anyway, as do most of E's DVDs. However, Daniel Garcia is a great magician and I have no doubt that his advice on Loops is gold.

There is a whole separate forum on E for the discussion of the Loops DVD:

http://www.elusionist.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=71

Check it out.

I generally believe Daniel Garcia is not a good role model.
He generally has a very creative mind, but that doesn't mean he has to release everything he comes up with.

He is the reason why you get 13 year old kids, wanting to release apparently good magic effects that everyone has seen before.
The kind that are "What you see is what you get, Totally impromptu, no gimmicks, no gaffs, carry it your wallet, perform it anytime anywhere", or the overused magic sales gander.

Why not do what Jay Sankey does and release a collection or effects in one DVD, or perhaps do something legendary and release a collection of books like Paul Harris' "Art of Ashtonishment" series.

I think he is a good role model. He is clearly talented and is a joy to watch. I sometimes put on one of his DVD's just to watch him perform.

I have to agree with left Eye. Over the hunderds (thousands>??? I dunno) of Magicians and DVDs ive watched..........hang on........ ok, All the magic DVD's ive seen.....right....no......wait........ LOOK! Danny Garcia is alright! LOL.

What im trying to say is, I actually find him a joy to watch, he is not cringeworthy (blaine) and he actually is funny. (good singer.songwriter too).

On one of his DVD's he does a routine to some street cops in a Texas Accent and another he continues to call a random dude Bobby, although his name is Sean or something. # very funny.

I thought that was quite rude of him.. very arrogant actually. If your name was Sean and and someone continually called you Ricky you'd get kind of narked off Im sure.

And taking the mick out of the Texas accent, even though it is agreeably annoying.. doesn't say much for trying to connect with your audience does it.

There are ways of being funny without resorting to this.

That said.. I have enjoyed some of his performances, but there are those who really inspire, and Danny is not one of them.

15 YO kids saying things like "He is the reason why you get 13 year old kids..." is funny, i am not saying it's necessarily wrong in this case, but it is funny...

I got LOOPS: Daniel Garcia's DVD

Postby trashmanf » May 26th, '07, 06:39

I got LOOPS: Daniel Garcia's DVD

I ordered it the day it came out and just got it.

review: out of 4 stars, I give it a 1 and 4/5 star. it is not that great.

Anyways it comes with 4 effects, one of them ridiculously bad, two ~semi okay ones, and one nice one... an effect where a dollar bill folds itself into a butterfly. Although it was not as amazing as I had hoped it would be... maybe a good one for little kids.

Cheers,

The amazing love babes

You mean into one package what you can charge top dollar for individually? But that's not the Ellusionist way!

long time reader, first time posting. actually i just created this account because of daniel garcia. sort of.

we were friends and went to high school together in a really REALLY small po-dunk texas town where everyone talks with that heavy drawwwwl. havent seen the DVD of him performing with the accent but im sure i'd laugh my head off. He and I seemed to be the only 2 people to escape that town with a distinguishably clean North American urban accent.
we're texans so we feel free to make fun of texans i suppose.,.,.

If you knew him personally, you'd think of him as a great role model. problem is he is getting famous so he has to alter his image for the masses and sadly the goody-two-shoes-gentleman isn't a persona that sells. like anyone else he's got to sell what he has to offer.,.,.,.,.,.,.

just my 2 cents, i dont mean for my first post to come off as a bash to you guys.

Personally, i see Daniel Garcia as a great performer and role model! He seems to learn as he goes along and throws a little comedy into the mix! With that little thing where he called the person 'Bobby' instead of 'Sean', how can you think he was just being arrogant? He even told you what he was going to do before he did it!!! It was just for a laugh! The guy didnt seem to be too bothered, DG seemed to have a good time! Who cares?! I've done silly things like that a few times and and nobody has ever noticed it! If anything, i believe he tempts the people watching his DVDs to stretch the possibilities and try different things! Stop being so rigid with everything!

I was born with Multiple Personality Disorder. Luckily, they are all me, they just dont always get along...
