love my wife!!

Postby Trickyfied » May 19th, '07, 19:56

ID with Ghost cards was one of my recent purchases, as allways I called my wife to show her my new trick. She is not impressed by magic and no matter how amazing the trick is she does not respond apart from 'have you finished?' A great spec to practice on, if I amaze her I will be a truly amazing magician!
Anyway, I asked her to think of a card and she chose the 9 of hearts, I removed the cards from the pack and magically one card was turned upside down and it was THE NINE OF HEARTS, amazing... NO, she looked at the (Ghost) card and said 'thats not a 9 of hearts, a 9 of hearts is RED!!! I really did not expect THAT reaction and had to try to convince her that these are special black and white cards with a small red heart etc I hope this doesnt make my wife sound thick as she is not, but it has made me think twice about using cards that realy do differ from what the laymen is used to seeing. Thought I'd share this as it did make me giggle

Stick to Bikes. They're cheap, good quality cards, and the reds are actually red!

Absolutely Tomo, I tend to use blue backed bikes but fancied the overpriced Ghosts. Wish I'd got blue bikes instead :? Live and learn as they say.

Exactly what I was thinking

In my opinion, if you use special/fancy looking cards, then you're asking for trouble. To a layman, these cards do not look normal - and if they don't look normal and you perform a trick just using sleight of hand, they'll prob think you're using a trick deck, which is why I always use normal bikes  .

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

I have the same problem with my sister. I really want to share my tricks with her once I've practiced them well, but she rarely responds to anything I show her, they're good tricks, but she's not impressed. On a couple separate occasions, I've gotten her by surprise and she is impressed, but those times are so few. :(
